House of Blues Food Report

Friday 2nd December 2005

Diners Bob and Dawn

This was the first day of our weeklong holiday and we were rather tired after the long journey from the UK so this report is quite brief.

We have eaten at the House of Blues on two previous occasions and have always had a good meal. We arrived at the check-in at 7.10pm and were informed there may be a 40minute wait, so we were issued a radio receiver.
It was a very cold night and we both were well wrapped up so we took up a position outside of the HOB opposite the Cirque De Soleil where we waited to be seated.

The HOB plays live music although there was nothing playing during our visit, however we were informed that a band would be playing at 11pm but by that time we would be fast asleep in our villa at Saratoga Springs.

We were called to our seat within half an hour and were handed the extensive, southern states menu. ( http://www.hob.com/venues/clubvenues/orlando/dining.asp)

The soup and Gumbo starter were excellent and they were both enjoyed very much.
Dawn thought her steak was not as tender of juicy as it could have been even though it was only cooked medium.
I have had the Jambalaya on each occasion that I have visited the HOB and have always enjoyed it very much and this time was no exception.
Tiredness was coming over us quite fast so we decided to call it a night without any dessert.
The bill came to a total of $49.78 including DVC discount of 20% but not including tip.

could someone tell me please.........if there is a band playing at House of Blues, do you have to pay a fee to watch them extra to the price of your meal? I'm confused - haven't been there before but saw the photos above and noticed on the HOB webpage prices listed for some bands for certain dates.

Food looks great - good pics! :)

The bands that play concert's at the HOB play next door in the concert hall, meaning u can eat beforehand, then see a concert but yes you need to pay for concert tickets separately, or you can just have a meal or just see a band, I think at the weekend the restaurant has a band playing in the restaurant and thats free

Most Fridays and Saturdays there is a blues band on the restaurant stage. Some evenings there is also a solo artiste on the porch so you can listen from outside with a drink from the bar. We enjoyed singing along to him while we queued for the concert hall next door.
We had lovely meals at HOB too and can't wait to return, your pics are making me hungry!

I didn't know you can get a DVC discount at HoB! Is it just a case of showing your membership card?

Last time we were out there we spent two and a half hours out the front shooting the breeze with the bar staff about Star Wars Episode 3 - it was absolutely brilliant, and we never even ate there! So this time round I'm taking my new wife for some food, too!

Went there three times last Novemeber, great ribs, steaks not so good. Wifey loved the blackened fish that she had. If you are not so hungry, they will split a main course on to two plates, we did that with the ribs one night as we wanted to squeeze in a desert too.
