Chefs de France Food Report

Diners:- Bob and Dawn
Meal:- Lunch

The Chefs de France is situated in the World Showcase section of Epcot and is very popular with diners.

We have eaten there on many occasions and have always enjoyed the meal and venue but were slightly disappointed on this occasion.
We arrived at check-in at approximately 11.55am without an advanced dining reservation (ADR) and gave our name to the lady who stated that our name would be called within a few minutes.
The staff started seating diners at 12.00pm and we were called soon after and were allocated a seat in the centre of the first room, which felt a bit cramped because the tables were so close together.

The table to the bottom of the picture is the table next to ours.

We have on other occasions sat at a window seat and these tend to have a bit more space between them.
Our server was Maximillien and he was on a student program and was very friendly and pleasant to talk to. We ordered our drinks, with Dawn and I both having coffee as it was quite cold outside and we both needed to defrost.

A family was seated at the table beside us and I was nearly knocking elbows with the father because the tables were so close. He then started loudly with the mobile phone and yammered away for quite a while whilst his daughters sat patiently colouring, stopping occasionally to argue over a crayon :D

Now I must say there was nothing wrong at all with the Onion soup or Dawns dessert and they were as good as expected but we were a little surprised with the steaks.
Because bavette steaks are so chewy and fibrous they are cut and cooked thinly and have always been done that way when we have ate there before but as can be see in the picture the steaks are thick cut making them making them very difficult to cut and very chewy, this did not take away the taste though and they were very juicy and flavourful.

Rating:- 7/10 Good service, peaceful surrounding although cramped but a slightly disappointing meal.

Bill:- $53.08 including DDE discount but not including tip
