Hi, Just wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on where they would go. we are doing a 2nd week after WDW on the beach and cannot decide between Naples or Fort myers. I am looking at the Diamondhead in FT and not sure in Naples possibly the naples beach and golf resort/or park shore I just cant make up my mind, so if anybody could offer their thoughts it would be very much appreciated, I have waited for this holiday for a long time and dont want to get it wrong. Thanks sooooo much!!.:wavey:

have stayed at park shores, whilst the accommodation was very good it is actually 10 miles north of naples and quite isolated. have to say i would stay at fort myers, there is lots more to do and an easily accessible good beach. we stayed at the outrigger beach which is about a 10 min drive from the pier and activities but has a good pool and restaraunt!
We have stayed at both places and would agree Fort Myers Beach is lovely. We stayed at Santa Maria resort which was a lovely apartment resort just opposite beach. There was more to do at FM as well.

Have stayed in Fort Myers at the Diamondhead and the stay was very pleasant. There's quite a lot to do in and around FM, you must drive over to Sanibel and Capitva islands, you could visit the nature park, and the shops at Periwinkle Place! Good number of restaurants in FM as well. If you're into history the Edison home is close by.
Visited Naples which is quite upmarket, I found it quite characterless and I personally wouldn't choose to stay there. The upside is a day visit to the Everglades is possible from there (but not impossible from FM).
Hope this helps.

Hi
The Gullwing on Fort Myers beach is also a lovely place to stay (owned by Sunstream-same as Diamondhead)
With regard to location, we much prefer Fort Myers. The beaches are beautiful and it is more relaxed. Naples is great though if you want lots of up-market designer shops etc. Bars/restaurants are generally more expensive there.
We had planned to stay in Fort Myers last time we went but after booking a hotel we found that it would be Spring Break and so switched our stay to Naples instead.
We found Naples to be a bit too upmarket for our taste, lots of expensive homes and designer boutiques but the beach is lovely.
We took a day trip to Sanibel/Captiva and tried to drive through Fort Myers on the way back but it was absolutely heaving with traffic (lots of students in cars) and we ended up having to turn around and take a different route.
I still wish we had been able to stay in Fort Myers and would like to book again at a different time of year. Don't think I would bother again with Naples.

Thanks everyone for the advice, you have helped make up my mind so I think its going to be Fort myers. We are going after easter so hopefully the traffic chaos would have eased by then. Thanks again, now just have to decide where to stay in Orlando. decisions decissions :confused2
We are going to Cape Coral, which is next to Fort Myers and will probably spend most of our time in FM.
We have booked a lovely villa which I was able to get at a comparable price to a decent hotel room so you might consider this as an option. Please PM if you would like any details re the villa.

We stayed on Fort Myers beach a couple of years ago - they have a Shrimp Festival around the end of March so we were there when this was on - parades, markets and lots of people.
There is a trolley which runs down the beach, and the beach is great. We found the only issue was getting on and off the island as there is only one road on.
Also you can get a boat there that takes you to Key West for a day trip (takes about two hours I think)

It depends on what you are looking to do.... If you are treating the second week as a bit of a wind down, I would suggest Naples. We have fallen totally in love with the place and people. We have never felt anything less than totally welcome.
Fort Myers has more 'going on' but if it were our choice, it would be Naples every time.
You will find plenty to do and see within easy driving of the centre of town.
