A day at the Magic Kingdom will cost you a bit more beginning Sunday 1st June 03

Walt Disney World's one-day ticket prices at its four parks are going up by $2, to $52 for adults and $42 for children, plus tax.

A Disney spokesman said Friday that the increase, the park's first since September, is being made "for business reasons" but is not tied to any forecast for summer attendance.

"There's no message here about performance," said Rick Sylvain. "Even with the increase, our ticket prices still represent a great entertainment value."

SeaWorld and Universal Orlando raised their prices last January, and Disney held the line at that time, as the tourist industry remained in a slump because of the weak economy and terrorist concerns.

But Disney did not leapfrog the competition by much in the price increase announced Friday -- besting SeaWorld's and Universal's adult price by a bare nickel. Disney's children's ticket remains 95 cents lower than the competition.

Representatives for SeaWorld and Universal said they had no comment on Disney's increase, which also affects multiday "park hopper" prices but not annual pass holders. Disney's four-day adult pass rises to $208 from $199 and the five-day pass to $269 from $259. Certain discount deals, such as for Florida residents, are unchanged.

I think they have a cheek.
We are just back and like loads of others waited ages for May hours to see what parades if any we would get. There was no spectro right up until almost the last minute then we got 2.
We had reduced park hours food outlets shops etc not open at park opening. Mickeys didnt open till 10 am . dont know if this is normal or not. We pay the same money as those going later in the summer and get reduced services.
They decided not to have a fastpass at Splash mountain one day just cos they felt like it. How fair is that for those there that day.
We had a disater when our 3 year old fell and cut her face at Disney. We had a baby and one other child and another bleeding everywhere did anyone come to help. NO. Despite the fact there were staff nearby no one asked if we required help.
She had to leave and go and get her faced glued and what a bother we had getting out.
To say I am unimpressed would be an understatement. Think there are other parks that are far better value. Disney beware you cannot live on your reputaion for ever.
