Anyone find they have extra probs with mossies if the pool area backs onto a lake, Dont want to book it if its a massive problem, Got visions of us having to sit indoors every night with doors shut!

Pool areas, and even balconies on hotel rooms/apartments are usually screened i.e.you are in a sort of conservatory structure totally enclosed by a fine mesh which insects can't get through.

What about the Crocodiles from said lake - can they get through?

I'm a mozzie magnet and every European holiday we've had I've had in excess of 30 bites, so obviously last year by the pool I was nervous. But happy to report the screens do their job and didn't get one bite when we were out there.
The only bite I had was on the flight going out and was bitten twice!!!

Thanks everyone,

Ive had some great prices for 2 weeks this aug, starting from £700 but all are on lakes. Just hope the mesh does it job then.

You won't get probs with crocs...... (except the footwear!) as they are usually found in Africa!

It's the old gators in Florida! (Just incase you annoy a Floridian by calling them crocs!)

I expect that they could if they really wanted to, but alligators (don't call them crocodiles, as Cyclospors says, they are 'gators locally!) are naturally wary of humans, so they are unlikely to approach your villa. Anyway, you'd see them coming!

Didn't have any problems with mozzies due to screen.
My only problem was checking the little family of ducklings every morning to see if they had survived another night with the gators.:( unfortunatly they seemed to have a hard time.

Hi

We are already booked for most of august, but you may get a great quote from other dibb villa owners on here. Just post your request on the villa section and owners will availability will get back to you :)

Dealing with other dibbers is much better ;)

we have never had any problems, and it is great to have a pool that is not overlooked

Both of our villas back onto lakes and we've never had any problem with mozzies so I'm sure you'll be fine, I tend to find that the only time I get biten is when playing crazy golf.

We have never had a problem with them, as many have said the mesh screens stop them and other crawlies and flyers from coming near you!!!

We love overlooking a lake and I too am a magnet for mossies. No probs though, the screens do a good job. Sunset Lakes is fab if you want to overlook the water:)

Crocs are only to be found down in the Everglades. Im led to believe its the only place in the world where Crocs and Alligators live side by side.

Many lakes behind villas house the odd Gator or two, the ManCo we have this year have said there are two in the lake behind the villa we are using.
Its illegal to feed them, and to feed them is also a death sentence for the Gator. If they are being fed they will approach the villas, then they have to be shot.
