Congratulations - you're in for the best holiday ever, all being well. A word of warning though - it may become a habit!

The flight will be 9 hours, give or take.

Assuming 28/8/08 is your holiday date you have a heap of time to plan. You'd do well to hang about these parts for a few weeks, reading what you can and you'll soon start to have some idea about the wonderful possibilities that await you. From there you may have some more specific questions that we'll only be too happy to help with.

Prepare to catch a lot of flies, you will be walking round with your mouth open all the time you are there, be prepared to become a kid again, you will have a holiday of a lifetime. staying in kissimmee make time to go to the car parade on a saturday night, not to be missed.
You should be on the plane about nine hours, sounds a long time but it passes faster than you think.
Have a great holiday :wave::d::wave:

All the info you need to plan your perfect trip is right here, so keep reading.

Depending on the aircraft and where you fly from the flight will be 9 to 9.5 hours, slightly less on the way back.

Hi Jackie welcome to the dibb, we stayed in a villa for our first florida holiday last year which was in davenport, just down the road to kissimee, someone came round to clean the pool at the beginning of the second week when we where there, but if you keep all the screen doors shut it really does stay reasonably clean anyway.
don't worry too much about the money as everything over there is quite cheap anyway, just have a limit set out for each day and stick to it, thats what we did with a little extra put aside just incase.
You will get sooo addicted to this site, there are so many people with great advice to help you with your first holiday.:)

Hi welcome to Thedibb!!!!
We stayed in a villa at Lindfields (192) through TCD the first year we went to Florida and had a great time, you will love it(wish we could go back and experience it for the 1st time again)We are now heading for 7 times in a row!!!
One thing we did learn is its not just all about the theme parks(although they are a big part)make use of the resorts to look around and sure to use their restaurants, you will probably need to book certain restaurants in advance.
Things i'd recommend are:
Illuminations Cruise(one of the most memorable things we have ever done)
Bomas,AKL ( amazing breakfast)
Hoop De Doo Dinner show
Whispering Canyon for dinner
Fantasmic at MGM (we do the dinner package at Hollywood & Vine)
Soarin Ride at Epcot
Old Town, along the 192
Downtown Disney
Visit the Boardwalk resort,do a surrey bike ride there(funny)
Have a look around Celebration
Walmart for shopping

There is so much more to do so prepare yourself for some busy days ; )
You will have a fab holiday

Hi Jackie and welcome,

One thing I would recommend is that if you are going in August 2008 and are planning at eating at the Table Service restaurants is to remember that you need to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) 180 days in advance (around February 2008), otherwise you may have problems getting everyone eating together and.or at the restaurants of your choice.

Mark the date on your calendar!!

my expectations of florida and disney and the whole thing were very high the first time i went.To say it went way beyong my expectations is an understatement.there are things there you wont believe you are experiencing.the shows will leave you unable to speak for half an hour after them.

Hi, one of my favourite things about going to Florida is the planning beforehand. there being 6 of you, a villa is really a great option - do you have a car? If not, try US Rent a Car or Dollar. its really easy to drive over there, all vehicles are very new and automatic.

Have you thought about making a rough itinerary - I know on your first trip you wont really know much about the resorts, but there are good and bad days to visit each park re crowds etc. Worth looking at this to see which parks to avoid on which day.
Also, do you want any character meals or meals at restaurants in each Park. If so, look at making ADR's (See thread at top of DIBB in dining). You dont get charged for making these reservations (other than at one or two hugely popular places), and dont get charged for not turning up (although it is polite to cancel).
With regards to your park tickets, look at attractionticketsdirect or themepartickets if not included in your holiday package.
Factor in rest days - you'll need them.
There are some great supermarkets throughout the 192 highway and Kissimmee such as Walmart, and Publix where you can get all your supplies (and lots more besides).
Above all, have fun planning and I hope you have a great trip.

Hi Jackie,

Happy Planning.

May I suggest that you browse the Dibb and you may find the answers to most of your questions.

If you have specific answers post a query and someone will come along with the answer.:wavey:
