4th July fireworks

Does anyone know whether the 4th July fireworks at MGM are worth braving the crowds for? How busy is it likely to be, and is there a good place to stand? Any other 4th July tips for first timers???

It will be mega busy, but the fireworks are worth it. You won't really be able to pick a spot, it's too busy, but anywhere in front of the hat will be fine, just go with the flow and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. MK has the special fireworks on the 3rd too, so it's better to go see them that night and do MGM on the 4th.

Assuming I actually get my lily-white-ass into gear and book this trip, I'm still toying with whether to try the parks on the 4th (ie accept the busy-ness, go with the flow and enjoy the atmosphere) of get the hell out of dodge and head for the beach or something.
