Hi,

Going in july, and although I've searched the forums re: which parks for kids, everyone seems to have a different opinion (and often the threads are about older kids):confused2.

Can anyone advise on which is the better Water Park if there are 2 kids aged 2 and 6? Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach???

Thanks

We like blizzard beach best - but i think Typhonn Lagoon maybe a bit better for the younger one, as they have a ketchakidee creek which i think is aimed at infants/pre school.

It depends when your going..Aquatica looks FANTASTIC! for younger kids, it opens next March(I think it is). Our youngest DD will be 3 next yr and we'll be going to Aquatica with her :) . BB is fantastic but the toddler pool isnt that big but we didnt have DD2 with us last yr so I dunno if it was any good. Soory if that was of no help lol.

There is a lovely area for young kids at Blizzard Beach -"Tikes Peak" with gentle slides, fountains etc and shallow water. If they are a bit more confident (well, the 6 year old) there's an older kid's area called "Ski Patrol Training Camp".

I'd say Typoon Lagoon, but I would expect BB to have a suitable area for your two children as well.

My 2 year old DS preferred Blizzard Beach - I thought Tykes Peak at BB was much nicer than Katchakidee Creek at Typhoon Lagoon. The Ski Patrol Training Camp looked as if it would be great for a 6 year old, especially if they are confident in the water. :spin:

My children were 8 and 5 last time we went and they preferred Typhoon Lagoon. But try both I'm sure there is something to suit everyone.

DD aged 4 loved BB. She loves Tikes Peak with it's tube ride and even went on the faster ones at Ski Patrol (area for pre-teens). The Teamboat Springs family raft ride was her fave and she also likes the Toboggan Racers: bit of an adrenaline junkie like her mum and dad!
She wan't so keen on Typhoon Lagoon. Ketchakidee Creek is lovely for toddlers and she did like their little tube ride but hated the water guns there. Also hated their 'family' raft ride which just consists of getting drenched by waterfalls about 5 times: not much fun IMHO! The surf pool there is also a little wild. Blizzard Beach's Meltaway Bay was nicer.
Just what we thought though: lots of people love Typhoon Lagoon, it's just not so good for us.

Hi

:erm: Just a thought!

If you happen to have the Disney Ultimate tickets both Disney waterparks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are "free" entry. I'm sure you could manage to visit both parks at least once during your stay. Better still if you could squeeze in a third visit, ask the children which one they liked best and (with a little bit of guidance towards your own favourite ;)) go to that one :d:.

We find both the waterparks are great and use a visit as a sort of "rest" day or half day.

If your holiday is in late July / early August remember to get there early (you can always leave earlier) as the waterparks have been known to close because they have reached capacity. If I remember rightly you can use the Disney coach transfers if staying in a Disney Resort or there is no charge for car parking at the waterparks if you are staying "on" or "off site"

Whichever ones you choose....you will enjoy!......oh.. and don't forget the suntan lotion :pgig: ...lots of it :pgig:!

I agree, try to visit both as they both offer different things! We prefer BB, but TL has a great wave pool, which my DD's love (they're older, 11 & 9) I personally think that BB is better for toddlers and TL is better for older children, that's just based on our experiences!! We first visited when DD's were 3 & 5! whatever you decide, have fun!:wavey:

we loved both but maybe for that age TL might be more suited. My kids spent all day there on our third visit just making sand castles as they were so tired. Either park is wonderful but there is a more laid back feel to TL

Haven't tried BB but from reading about both we though Typhoon Lagoon seemed more suitable for younger kids. Ours love it at TL and it's very relaxing for adults.

Why not fit both of them into your itinerary? That way you won't miss out on anything. We found both parks to be fantastic and had a wonderful time. Both are different but equally as good. We are going next April and have put 2 days aside so we can go to both parks. Have a great time!

We prefer the Tykes Peak area at Blizzard Beach to the Ketchakiddie Creek at TL, but it depends what your 2 year old would prefer.

BB has small slides that even a 2 year old can do (my DD was 2 last trip and thought the slides were brilliant), Ketchakiddie Creek is more playing in sand and splashing in the stream. My DD didn't like it because there is water shooting around and she doesn't like getting splashed unexpectedly.

Whichever you decide try to go on the same day of the week that way you can re-use your re-fill mug. Great saving!
