I had one at the Outback, but I have to say we didn't like it. i was a bit gutted after hearing all the rave reviews, but ours was a little overdone and tough

Someone posted on another thread that he'd seen kits for sale in Walmart. Guess you'd need a deep fat fryer for it though.

We have been to the one beside Splendid China and one beside Premium Outlets, the best one was beside Splendid China. try this link http://www.outback.com/ because there are a few in Orlando. There is also one in International Airport.:thumbs-up

At tony romas they do an "onion loaf" as an appetiser and although i've never been to race rock or outback, i have seen photographs of the "bloomin onion" and it's very similar to that kind of thing. Lots and lots of onion ring swirled around a pot of dip....very nice!! yummm

We've had both the Outback bloomin onion and Tony Romas onion loaf. We actually preferred Tony Romas - not as greasy.

But whichever you choose it's definitely a starter to share - 3 of us managed a half loaf but not a full bloomin!

thank you all so much for the info i suppose we can try thr 2 places with being there for 3 weeks will have to do a coin toss to see where to go first! The one we had in race rock was really tasty and done the 6 of us as a starter and did fill us up so needless to say we ended up taking most of our main course home with us lol :d:

Another vote for Tony Roma's onion loaf, we found it much nicer than the Outbacks bloomin onion.

Also Lakeland now sell a onion bloomer to cut your onion up for deep frying

We have them all the time from the outback. you can buy the onion cutters in a shop at premium outlets , and you can buy the batter mix at wallmart:tounge:

Think the shop in Premium Outlets is called Country Clutter, they have loads of dips around the store to try and we always bring a few jars back for party dips, you also find loads of gadjets for the kitchen that you never see over here. We got a Bloomin Onion kit from there, other place to get simular starter is Bahama Breeze they do a tower of batterd rings with a fruit dip and mild horseradish dip..

Is there still a Damon's on I-Drive? They did a lovely onion loaf in there served with a gorgeous tasty savoury sauce (but this was years ago..).
