We are staying off site in december and want to go somewhere for a really good steak. Last year we went to charleys on the 192 which was great and we are thinking of going there again but ws just wondering if there is anywhere even better for a steak?

There is areally great steakhouse on the 192. Just near the big purple wizard gift shop called the Longhorn steakhouse. We go there at least twice every trip. i have never had a bad meal there and the steak is out of this world!!

We went to Texas de Brazil, just off I.D and it was fantastic, steaks and lots of other meats, great for meat lovers like my DH. I had lobster which was excellent.
And they have a salad buffet to start which was great, this included shrimps and chicken too.

Another vote for Outback (one near Florida mall and one near Gatorland). DH is a steak fanatic and is planning on making more than one visit!!

You get a great steak at Key W Kool's on the 192 (marker 4) and also at the Outback, never been to Charleys so cant compare.

It is difficult to beat Charlies Steakhouse though - but not their prices!

Which steak did you have - their 20oz mignon is amazing, you can cut it with your fork!

For us The Kitchen at the Hard Rock Hotel.

This was the best meal we have had in Florida out of all times we have been.

Even 18 yr DS loved it :goofy_bou

Steak and Ale at the Convention Centre end of I-Drive do a lovely steak, as do the Lonestar Stakehouse at Lake Buena Vista.

Logans Roadhouse, on the corner of Sandlake Road/ John Young Parkway
do a great New York Strip, and they serve warm honey glazed rolls, its a really informal place to eat and good value.

Logans are also on the 192 opposite Old Town but we have never tried that location

We like Longhorn, Logans and Outback. Key W Kools also do great steak but are more expensive - we also found the staff to be somewhat patronising assuming Brits don't know different steaks and only eat them well done.

Longhorn, Outback or Logans for reasonable prices.
Ruth Chris's (Sand Lake Rd), Del Friscos (Lee Road), Flemings (same people as Outback, more upmarket) for more $$$$

I love trying steaks in Orlando. Its turned into a bit of an obsession for me looking for the best filet mignon (i must have had . I used to love kools but also got annoyed at the staff with regards tips (or pointing the need out to me).I will be going again though this trip. Charlys and Ruths were great but expensive. I would also recommend Houlihans on the 192 who also do great ribs.
If you want to travel a bit Mannys is also excellent.
After reading tappers01 review i will also try The Kitchen at HRH when we are there.

I have been reading threads for some time about where to get the best steak in Orlando and I have never heard anyone mention "Linda's La Cantina" on Colonial Drive, it is a locals steak restaurant and you do not go for the atmosphere or an all-you-can-eat buffet - but you do go for good steak, there is even a limited list of things to go with the steak although they do have chips, not french fries. You can have a salad but being America, it is seved as a seperate course before the steak.

They do have a website (http://www.lindaslacantina.com) but it seems to have disappeared, hopefully the restaurant hasn't as well, I read somewhere it has been serving since 1947

Lindas LaCantina closed after a major fire a while back. I read somewhere that it was due to re-open but don't believe it has. The steaks were good though!

You have confused me now, I knew it had burn't down but that was quite a few years ago, I have been in it since. Are you saying it has burn't down again?

I'll make some enquiries!

From memory there was a fire which destoyed the whole building years ago but they rebuilt. I believe there was another kitchen fire after that and it didn't re-open. Last time I went past (Aug 06) the car park area was all overgrown. It is shame as it was a nice place and the steaks were good.

There was another restaurant (4th Fighter Squadron) which wasn't far away from there as well which used to be good but went downhill. They had a kitchen fire that closed them as well. Maybe something in that area about kitchen fires!

Edit. Have just checked to find reviews from May 07 so it must have re-opened. However the reviews are shocking!

The outback sirloin is the best for us - the one at Formosa gardens.
The actual best steak we have had out there was at Norbys in Lake Wales but I couldn't begin to tell you how to get there sorry - but the Outback is the one we keep going back to because of its location, bloomin onion, steak and try the shrimp georgeous:tounge::tounge::tounge:

Just spoke to a friend who is a regular at La Cantina and he was there 2 weeks ago, doesn't know anything about a recent fire and the food is as good as always!

Mmmmm mouths watering!

Nobody has yet suggested Applebees. There is a new one just opened on H27 near Publix/Highland reserve. They do a fantastic Cajun-style steak as well as others. The place is very popular but has a lot of tables so you do not have to wait very long even if it seems full.
