Hi guys,
We have been back from Disneyworld (Florida) for about 6 weeks and are now planning a trip to Disneyland Paris. My husband and I went in 2000 for the day while we were holidaying in Paris, we loved it and now want to take our 2 year old little girl who just loves DW. We are thinking of staying in the DREAM CASTLE, we are very close to buying our deal on the internet, and was wondering if anyone can give us any info. on this hotel, like how far is the walk to the parks and what the accomodation is like too. I know you only sleep there but I'd still like to know that it was a decent place to go to.
We stayed at WORLDQUEST RESORT in Florida a few weeks back and it was FAB, really gorgeous and extremely spacious, I promised myself that I would write a report with hints and tips for anyone to nose at, I still havent got round to it, I'll probably forget all of my helpful tips by the time I get round to it. We have all been ill since we got back from Florida, colds, coughs, and icky tummys (to be polite), so things have got in the way of my little report.
One of the reasons that we are going to Paris next time is that the flight to Florida is just too long, I don't like to fly, and we always seem to get ill when we get to Florida, we must pick up colds and stuff from other passangers on the plane with the air not being so great,I suppose with being up in the air so long there is more chance of catching a cold, so hopefully we will enjoy Paris just as much as Florida, it's been a while since we went and things have changed since then I believe, which leads me to my next question...... WHAT IS MGM like?? I believe it's just been built recently??
So, have I bored you enough yet, have i babbled on enough for you???
thanks for looking.. x x x
this hotel is supposed to be lovely, I haven't stayed there but we stayed at the Holiday Inn which is next door. I would also check the price of the HI as we found it to be incredibly reasonable and that is also a really nice hotel. We booked via the Holiday Inn website and it was really cheap.
You can't walk to the parks (well, you can but it is quite a long walk), there is however a shuttle bus quite frequently and it's not far on the bus at all.
Disneyland Paris is lovely - but it is not Florida - if you go thinking of it as a Florida substitute then you may well be disappointed - if you think of it as a completely different experience then you should have a fab time, but as soon as you start comparing it to Florida then it will lose out.
The Studios at DLP are quite small, there are some good rides and shows there but it doesn't compare with MGM, firstly the theming is just not there - the Paris Studios have the theming of a backlot, which means it's just a lot of large boring buildings with big numbers painted on the side.
I don't want to be negative (there will be other posters who will be happy to do that), but whilst I enjoyed our trip to DLP, I didn't love it in the same way as I do Florida.
Have you looked at tripadvisor.com for reports? Have a look here (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g226865-d534820-Reviews-Dream_Castle_Hotel-Marne_la_Vallee_Ile_de_France.html).
I know what you mean about the flight. Im looking at booking a disney hol very soon and I am tempted to go DLP for teh flight reasons. My DD (4) was almost crazy with exhaustion by the time we got there.

Thanks guys for all the info.
My husband has booked it!!!!! Yey, we go in 160 days according to my countdown, roll on November.
My husband and I have been to DLP before but it was 7 years ago this November, we got engaged in Notre Dame Cathederal, (romantic or what?) and we spent a day in DLP, which we really did enjoy, even having already been to WDW Florida earlier in the year. I know you can't compare it, it's so small in comparrison to Florida but really, since we have had our little girl we only seem to go to the Magic Kingdom anyway, we have taken our little girl to Florida twice now (lucky little minx) she's only 2 so she is too small to go on the bigger rides and she just loves Dumbo, and the carousel, not to mention SMALL WORLD, so I am hoping that we all love Paris as much as Florida, as long as her little face lights up when we are there then that's all that matters. I'm really excited too because from the 12th November it's CHRISTMAS TIME in Disney, so we will get to see all of the Christmas decorations, even though it will be FREEZING, we don't care,....bet I don't say that when we're there
So we think we got a good deal, 2 adults & one little angel aged 2, return flights and accommodation for 5 nights in the DREAM CASTLE hotel, with travel insurance all for under £700. We have to buy our park tickets which I think go for about £112. for 5 days but my husband has found a site where they are £90.00 each so that saving will go towards the car parking in Manchester. (if anyone knows if we can get cheaper tickets for the park elsewhere please let me know, as we only paid £155 approx for 14 day hopper to WDW FLorida).
Anyway, lets know if you think that this is a good deal or not as if we want to go again in the future it's good to know of any other reasonable companies out there. We booked with expedia, we've used them a few times and have had no problems, I'd deffo recommend them.
So, thanks again for all of your info. and help.
:spin: to susieb, Isn't it just dreadful??? Our little girl suffers from travel sickness too sometimes so when she is so tired and restless after the long flight the last thing you want to do is have them travel in a car or coach to the hotel. Maybe we'll wait until she's older before we do Florida again. Good luck with booking your holiday susieb.
thanks again.....

If you are going for 5 days buy an annual pass at the park. These come in at about £90 and you get the benefit of 10% all food and merchandise plus if you go back within a year you don't have to buy tickets again! So savings all round. http://www.dlp.info/Guide/Guest-Info/Annual-Passports/Annual-Passport-Comparison.asp
Even better, if you go for the Dream passes which are a little more expensive, you have access to the extra magic hours!
The dream castle hotel is super lovely :) my friends and I stayed there about a month ago and had a lovely stay. The hotel is really well themed, the staff were wonderful and the rooms were very clean an okish size (enough for three of us) and were nicely decorated. We also had the breakfast each morning which was a yummy buffet with all the usual on offer - we couldnt stop eating the pain au chocolat's - they were gorge!!!
We'd defo go back to the hotel - Its amazing value for money and sooo close to the parks. Heres some piccies....
