There is no doubt that this hotel pound for pound is possibly the best resort hotel in the world.
Anyone agree?

We did love it there, but had an equally good time staying at ASMo which, as a value resort, is much cheaper.

we have stayed in POfq and ASmo
pound for pound, ALL STAR MOVIES wins
best for FUN, ALL STAR MOVIES wins
i liked POfq alot, its a really nice resort, BUT the only difference between POfq and ASmo is the "his and hers sink" and the mini fridge, not much for the price difference

In my opinion No.
Something like Pop Century is probably better "value" (there's a clue in the term "value resorts" :) ) but for quality and ambience per price at WDW, the Port Orleans hotels are pretty hard to beat.

P.S. As Alan Brazil would say "Never been Mike, never been"

Whilst it is a beautiful hotel and we really enjoyed our stay there I am learning to appreciate the cheap hotel = more money for fun theory.
After staying at POFQ last time we had all these hopes of staying in a deluxe resort etc. but have decided that we would rather stay in the value resorts (which other than a fridge and a waterslide and a little less room are pretty much the same) and have more money to spend on treats, shopping and nice meals

I have been seriously thinking in staying at POR. whats the difference between POR and FQ?
I have been to Asmov twice now, but would like a change where it is quieter? Can it be quieter there? esp. in March?

We are staying there for a week in September. It was recomended to us as being ideal for couples and a quiet peaceful resort with no screaming kids! Hope I have nt offended anyone.

no offence taken. But I will be taking my kids with me (19,17 and 8 or they will be when we go). do you get many cheerleaders/large college groups that use this resort?

I love staying at the Walt Disney Dolphin. I know it's expensive but I love it.
This will be my seventh year staying there.
Also Disney's Caribbean Beach resort is brilliant
I think POFQ is such a pretty resort :) As to whether it's the best pound for pound, I do think all the Disney hotels are very over priced for what they are, but at the end of the day I love staying onsite and am willing to pay a premium to do it.

French Quarter is much smaller ( which is why we chose it , rather than go back to Pop) only a couple of minutes walk to pool, laundry, food court or boat. You share the disney transport with riverside, but the buses pick up in POFQ first, so you always get a seat, but then of course you have to travel around riverside picking up the guests there- they did seem to have alot of bus stops ! it's a much bigger resort and they have a sit down restaurant, but you could always walk to riverside from POFQ if you wanted to eat there..
Personally I think all the Disney resorts are way overpriced - for me if you take away all the Disney facades, the value resorts resemble a motel/glorified Butlins - all that access via external walkways!
Probably get flamed for that!
Royal Pacific Resort costs less than many of the Disney resorts and yet for me was just as lovely (ok slightly smaller rooms) - better pool and grounds, good restaurants etc
BUT - I love the accessibility of the WDW resorts - being able to walk out to eat from YC to Epcot, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin etc. Able to have wine with meals and not worry about who is driving. This justifies the cost IMHO - makes it a real break.

Well maybe i am wrong but i would not pay for a deluxe resort after looking at the rooms, they really are no better than the moderate ones.
Outside of Disney i think that the steal of the century is the Homewood Suites International Drive.
I would defy anyone who has stayed here not to admit they are one of Orlandos best places to stay for what you pay.
There are 3 star suites and then there are the Homewood Suites which advertise as 3 star but are really much better.

I could not disagree more. The rooms at the Polynesian are head and shoulders above those at the moderates. The size of the rooms are significantly larger (414 sq ft versus 314 sq ft). you have a private balcony, enhanced dining opportunities at the resort, as well as more transportation options.
I have stayed in value moderate and deluxe, and for me the moderates offer me the least value for money. I would rather pay less and stay at a value or upgrade and get far more bang for my buck in the deluxe.
BUT this is all personal preference. There is no right or wrong answer only the right answer for your needs.

I have been lucky enough to stay at deluxes four times and the one time we decided to go for a Moderate (Coronado Springs) - I cannot tell you how disappointed we were with the room - it was MUCH smaller, a curtained off rail to hand things on :confused2, less drawers to store other clothes in etc. We actually went straight to Reception to move to Wilderness Lodge but the upgrade was a lot - we then thought just to enjoy it and we did, but the initial room differences were what put us off the resort, the rest of the resort was fine.

Having stayed at moderates (POFQ and CRS) and also the deluxes (Yacht Club and Boardwalk Inn), the rooms at the deluxes are substantially larger with nicer furnishings and fittings, etc, and private balconies.
However, I do feel they really are very expensive for what they are and from a value for money point of view I much prefer the moderates.
