I've never done character dining but we will be in September. I think it depends on your family/where your staying etc... Do you have little girls who like Princesses? Are you staying at one of the hotels? Don't forget that you can have breakfast with Spiderman in Universal.
Lots to consider. I'm sure someone will be along with a personal opinion soon.
We loved Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill and the Crystal Palace. With girls though you need to try either Cinderella's Royal Table or Princess Storybook in Akershus. We are doing both next year plus a LOT more!

If you can get Cinders Table then that would be our preferred option - just because of where it is.
We have done the Crystal Palace which was very good, somewhat noisey and crowded, but you get Tigger, Pooj and Eeyore plus some impromptu dancing!
The Garden Grill at Epcot was also a fav, here its Mickey, Pluto and Chip n Dale - a lot more interaction and time.

Yes you can. You can book 180 days in advance by calling WDW direct - info here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=58&Itemid=813). You may want to call asap as you will be going when the free DDP is on and a lot of the popular restuarants fill up very quickly - be flexible with your dates and times. CRT does breakfast lunch and dinner and Akershus does too

I would go with the CP if you have little girls...
I have one of each and my daughter is not a princess kinda girl :)
We went to 1900 Park Fayre last time and breakfasted with Pooh, Tigger, the Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland...
Later on the girls (my dd and a friends dd both 5) did the Tea Party at the Grand Floridian with Alice. They loved it :)
This time we are booked at Cape May Cafe (Minnie, Goofy etc!)
You will have fun whatever you decide to do I am sure but feel free to PM me if you want any other info :thumbs-up
Here's (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=397&Itemid=778) a link showing what character meals are offered, what characters are present and cost

Hey Kel
Let me know how you get on something I may consider.
I wanna know how to get on to the parade floats, do you register at guest relations first thing?

Hiya It doesn't matter if you're not onsite, you can book from 180 days out.
If your girls like princesses, Cinderella's Royal Table is the ultimate but depending on how soon you're going you make not be able to get in. A great alternative is 1900 Park Fayre at teh Grand Floridian Resort, lovely buffet food.
We also love Crystal Palace at MK (winnie the pooh and friends) and Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary resort.
