Sorry guys,
I know we have only just changed the new posts feature but I have had to change it back to what it was.

I have however added a Today's Posts link next to the New Posts link to give you an easier choice, this is the same link that is in Quick Links, just easier to reach.

http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9170&stc=1&d=1181583754

This link will display any new posts since your last visit - After 20 minutes the posts will be marked as read, regardless of whether you have read them or not.

This will show all post that have been made today, if you have read them they will still show.
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/images/statusicon/thread_new.gif Open envelope means there are new posts.
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/images/statusicon/thread.gif Closed envelope means there are no new posts.

Apologies for any confusion these changes have caused.

Regards
Stu

You confused me Stu, not that it takes much

I went to click New Posts and it's space on that bar has been taken by Today's Posts - got all confused :confused2

Much prefere it back this way thanks Stu, but can you tell me why the countdowns disappear when I go onto the Bye Bye Ben thread. Is it just me :confused2 :thumbs-up

counters are not displayed beyond the first few pages of a thread, so if the thread as many many pages counters will not show in the latter pages otherwise the thread display times would be a lot slower.

Stu

Thanks for the reply on the other thread Stu and my difficulty handling the extra pages of posts, only just read it due to work commitments.

I know its a very lazy approach to viewing the Dibb, but I only dip in every now and then.

Sorry It didn't workout as we were getting used to the new format.

Thanks for all the hard work from you Smax and everyone else

Cheers Sean

Agreed, the new system did make a lot more sense after a bit - mainly once you got used to seeing just how many new posts there really are on the DIBB every day! As opposed to the now re-enabled system where the pointer is neatly cleared for you automatically every so often, so you just miss seeing most of the posts! LOL. Shame the server load was too great, but hey maybe one day it'll be possible to re-introduce it?

I've must admit that I've always used the Today's Posts option anyway, which allows you to see everything fairly easily, so thanks for putting that in main menu bar Stu - even if I do still keep selecting it via the Quick Links option out of force of habit. :)

Can I just ask if when you've done all the upgrades and stuff if your going to put the drop down menu for the forums back? it does my head in having to go to the main menu to jump between forums all the time, I really like the drop down box and hope your going to bring it back :)

Thank You

Today's Posts has always been there, it's just been hidden away in a menu until now. I've been using it for some time as it's the only way to ensure that you don't miss stuff due to the unread posts pointer being automatically updated without your knowledge.

i still dont use that way, until the timer kicks in and everything disappears, then i have to, so i dont miss everything else. still prefer the old new way LOL
