Do not stay in the travelodge. It is right nex to the train station but I guarantee you, there will be no sleep. It is built over 2 night clubs, and apart from the noise of the jobs, drunks. When the clubs shuts you then have the bar staff dumping hundreds of bottles in the skips, then the bin men come at around 4am....been once...never ever again, even if it was free.

thanks for all your help, unfortunately as soon as you have three people in the room on a friday and saturday night the Royal hotel goes way way over our budget but it did look really lovely! think we will go for the Ibis as its only a few hundred yards from train station and has wheelchair accessible rooms. We aren't expecting luxury at £60 a night for all of us but im sure it'll be fine. the trip is mostly about the train journey for little alf so im sure we'll all enjoy it however it turns out!!!

The Ibis is close to the Queen Street Station (less than one minute), but not the Central Station. Cardiff is very flat and the Ibis is about 10 mins. from Central Station, VERY close to all shopping.
