I'm going in early September with them - first time in New York and looking forward to it. Then 2 weeks in Florida on our honeymoon.

Yep will do. I'm one of those people that doesn't really care about the flight as long as it gets me there in one piece. Flights for two with all taxes, extra baggage allowance came to about £460 which was pretty good. Not ordered any meals, as airline food does nothing for me anyways.
I'm really looking forward to 4 nights in NYC, never been before, and then back to Florida - cool.

Well it was too good to be true ( given the globespan reports on here about Florida flights ). I got an email this morning cancelling my original flight and offering me one 3 days later, meaning as my internal flights and acommodation are already booked, we'd only have one day in NYC rather than 4 before going to Florida. And it would include a stop in Ireland on the way.
Bitterly disapointed as I booked these last July, but hasve cancelled and got a full refund. Rebooked flights with Delta which coincide well with the return flights back up from Florida. Paid extra but at this late stage its worth it preserve my honeymoon !

I wou;ldn't dream of using Globespan again as a result, although the girl I spoke to at Customer services was very apologetic and nice.

Globespan have done a deal with Zoom airlines, due to the mess they

Webby3, if it makes you feel any better I did NY with Delta in March and they were amazing. We are booking to use them again in April 2008, despite only being 10 minutes away from Liverpool airport.

It has been on the local news that they are reducing the service to 4/5 times a week with a possible stop in Knock. Demnad hasn't been as great at they anticipated.

I've just found out that flyglobespan have cancelled our trip to NY in November and didn't even tell us. I found out when I tried to select our seats for the flight. Apparently it was cancelled on 19th June and no-one has bothered to tell either us or the company that booked it on our behalf. I'm so angry. I certainly wouldn't even consider booking with them again.

It was in the local paper, and even on a phone-in on Radio Merseyside earlier in the week. Loads of people have been let down by Globespan. :(

Thanks for that webby3, just to let you know we have managed to book something else, we are now going a day later with Delta staying in a better hotel for £50 each less. I have to say they have done me a favour if you get my drift, but thanks again.

Thats just awful, i will never be using them i can tell you.

We got our flights last year for £303 for 2 flying Virgin. They did however make a BOO BOO, and didnt put the tax on, still got them though. My only regret was that the upgrades all had no tax on and we didnt book them and waited until the airport and its cost us £1100 return PE extra. Still £1400 return PE flights for 2 was still good i think.

Suzy, glad you got sorted out. I was frustrated and stressed about it last week but feel much better knowing I'm flying with an airline that isn't going to mess my honeymoon up at the last minute.

Seems they've decided to stop the Liverpool to NY flights:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/6266518.stm

Globespan are saying that they light reinstate it next year, but with another city added to the route.

Hmmm....after all the problems both in Glasgow and Liverpool with Globespan, it would be a very brave person who would book with them.

Friends of mine and my bf were due to go a few days ago but their flight was cancelled.. After they had waited 6 hours with no-one telling them anything! :erm: They decided to just cancel it as the whole idea of going was to meet a friend who is returning to the UK soon after travelling for 6 months. They're going to Barcelona instead :) After their fiasco and hearing of others having problems with Globespan I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole myself even if the route wasn't being stopped. I'd rather pay the extra and go with BA or Virgin.

Total absence of communication seems to be a recurring theme with Globespan.

Any company can have problems, but one that treats its customers like this deserves to go out of business.

The flight from Liverpool to NY includes a stop and more passengers getting on at Knock.
The local paper (for the Knock area) had a story last week about passengers flying back to Knock with them from NY whose flight was cancelled due to tech problems. They were in NY for 5 days until an alternative flight was found for them.
Others who decided to fly back to Ireland via alternative airlines have been told they will get no compensation for their alternative flights as they chose not to wait until Globespan sorted them out !!
