I had a look at their website Paula and it says that they are closed permanently.

the building was all boarded up in June, along woth alot of i-drive TBH
mercado centre was also a mess.

The mercado has been slowly closing down for years one shop /restaurant at a time

Thanks all, just seems strange for such a well known and well used eaterie to be out of action for so long, you would have thought it would have been one of those places that closes, turns round, and is reopen very quickly bearing in mind its location and visibility from both Idrive and I4. Lets hope its not out of action too long! I did read some good info on www.internationaldriveorlando.com which is worth a browse. ;)

Yes - I remember it as an Italian restaurant. Think it had Roman columns outside and looked very glamourous from the I4. Can't remember the name.

The Mercado has been going downhill for the last few years - I couldn't believe the difference in the place from when we first went in 2000. :(

The Itallian Restaurant before Race Rock was called Carusos Palace. It was quite upmarket with classical musicians and Opera singers performing while you ate. Car was valet parked of course and my wife was given red roses as we left.

pointe orlando and the mercado are haveing a big regeneration scheme bought in for mass investment,when in florida in feb seen plans advertised for both , it looks good
