Hi, I know i'm planning a tad early but I just can't help myself.
What are your recommendations for the best place to eat at epcot for an evening meal, 3 adults and 2 children, thanks,

Michelle.

It's not the poshest, but I vote for Le Cellier. It's generally meat-oriented, so maybe not so good if you're veggies though (although the cheese soup is very highly recommended). Great food (fabulous steaks!), good attentive and friendly service, and a lovely location.

Trouble is, I'm not the only person who thinks it's great and it can get very hard to get a booking, so you'll need to reserve in advance.

Marrakesh. :D

Always one to be different. You have to be a tiny bit adventurous in your eating but the food here is fantastic. The kids can join in with the belly dancer too. :D

Coral Reef :) Beautiful restaurant in the Living Seas (the tank/fish is breathtaking), coupled with a good wine list and excellent food (not only fish, but chicken & steak as well) - according to an American guy on the next table to us, his steak was the best steak he has ever eaten.

Coral Reef for us too! Great food and lots to see. Used to love the buffet at Akershus but that is now a Princess meal.

Sounds great Clare - haven't tried Coral Reef yet! We would also recommend Marrakesh - we had a lovely meal there last time - really enjoyed it.

Coral Reef. Coral Reef. Coral Reef :tounge:
Although I'm a bit miffed with Clare for recommending it too - it's meant to be a secret or it will get too popular!! :pgig:

Le Cellier IS good food, but I prefer to enjoy my meal not feel that the sooner they can get me out of the door the better! :confused2

I think because of its location a lot of people don't know it is there. Let's not tell anyone else....I'm sure noone is listening!!

I agree, last year we were on the DDP and tried Resturant Marrakesh - we weren't expecting much as we'd tried the counter service meals before and thought they were awful. Much to our suprise it was the best meal we've ever had at WDW (in 12 visits), we had the 'Kings Feast' which 'cost' $35 each plus tax and tip - but as we're on the DDP we 'made' money as we'd only paid $35 per day for a TS, a CS and a snack.

I also agree that Le Cellier isn't quite as good as it used to be, the service is a bit rushed - presumably so they can get more customers in.

Le Cellier and Teppanyaki are must's for us, didnt think much of Nine Dragons, and the Mexican was OK, but not as good as I'd been led to believe, I would eat there again though if I couldnt get into Le Cellier.

Alfredo's in italy, my dfil insists we eat here every year, he's veggie and loves the food they give him, good with the little one's too. some evening its a little busy and you have to wait a bit for a table. service is always friendly and very quick too. cant say i've ever had bad service or a bad meal anywhere other than wendy's on i-drive (very rude staff).

Thanks everyone for the tips, will have to give le cellier or coral reef a try I think seen as though these seem the most popular choice, but don't worry sue i'll keep it to myself, lol.:)

Le Cellier is somewhere we always go, twice if we can fit it in. Of late we have found ourselves rushed (as it is such a popular restaurant. Last month id did my ADR's for december and struggled to get what I wanted and they had only just been announced. Everytime we go there, we always see walk up's being burned away). Our mains came up before we had finished our starters. Still food is good and the armosphere is nice too.

We try and steer clear of the R&C as we want to try other things rather than UK, but last year for lunch we popped in as we were near, and we had a surprisingly enjoyable lunch, so don't rule that out.

The 2 French restaurants are good, upstairs being a bit more fine dining than downstairs, but both have the atmosphere and good food. Didn't much like Alfredo's though.

I think Alfredos closes on 31st August? Im sure i read that somewhere recently.

I had lunch in france which was nice, dinner in mexico which was even nicer, and also dinner in Germany. Im not a massive fan of buffets as I can never eat much and feel like i havent had as much as ive paid for, but it was a nice buffet.

Foodwise IMHO the best restaurant in Epcot is "Bistro de Paris", which is second only to Victoria & Alberts. It is very exclusive in that not many on the Dibb will have tried it and it can only be booked from 30-days out, rather than the normal 180-day window.

See here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=149811) for sample menu - nb no kids menu.

Whether this will appeal to your kids is for you to decide - we are getting a babysitter when we dine there on 30th July!

Very little makes me lose my temper but this would. It happened to our neighbours when we ate there and the lady was only a third of the way through her starter :omg: . Apart from anything else, there was no room on the table for all the plates! They were clearly unhappy but said nothing.

I most certainly would!

I have to say Sue, the same as you, little gets me mad but having the main course brought up before you have finished the starters gets me cross, and as you say, there is no room.

I even said in an exasperated voice that we hadn't finished, but he more or less shrugged his shoulders, mumbled something about the kitchen being efficient and tried to clear some room. This was not the first time it had happened. It is the food and atmosphere that keeps me going back, rather than the service.

We have been a couple of times and have always enjoyed it, although I did at times feel a bit out of it in my park shorts and t-shirt, where other diners were a bit more formal than I, but I was made to feel just as welcome (probably just me!).

The restaurant has a nice quiet atmosphere, finely laid out to resemble an upmarket Parisienne restaurant with the ambience to display that. This is down to in part the French speaking waiters of course, who give impeccable service throughout.

The food and wine are of high quality with good variation on the menu of traditional French fare and American/UK delights thrown in. The first time we went we had an 'between course' dish brought up as a pallet whetter I guess, though the 2nd time we did not get this. The crep suzettes are the speciality where they make and flambee them at your table with ease and charm!

All in all, a high quality restaurant worth a visit if you like the fine dining edge to your day with good food, surroundings and great service.

I just want to comment about the mains being brought while still eating starters...... I understand that it seems like very poor service to be brought your entree while still eating an appetizer, but this is unlikely because ur server is trying to rush you out as it may seem

when a table orders its food, we as a server decide when to order the food. Usually on a busy night, i would order the appetizers thru to the kitchen, and then order the mains right away, and this usually times it correctly that the appetizers would be finished b4 the mains are ready. howver, if i did this, and the pantry ( part of the kitchen that makes the apps) were runnign slowly, this would throw my timing out of sync. or alternatively if the main kitchen were running fast, this would also throw the timing way off. We are not allowed to hold meals in the kitchen, as it is a food runner rahter than the server who brings the mains usually, so they run the food when the ticket comes up on the line. Alternatively If i waited longer, i run the risk that the pantry are running fast and kitchen are running slowly and it could end up with a long wait between courses, which could also be complained about.

I know its still a pain, but I just wanted to explain this from a servers point of veiw, coz i know a lot of people think the servers are trying to rush them out, but most of the time its not the case at all, its just a matter of how the kitchen is working :)

We tried Bistro de Paris last year, it was a last minute booking, we loved it, the service was fantastic, and we got to see the fireworks from our seats.
Pricey, but worth it for a special one off meal.

im lucky, ive taken all the tips off the dibb and have le cellier and coral reef in my adrs.wouldnt have had a clue otherwise so thanks to all.to princess jilly, how offended would you be if asked to take the mains back to the kitchen?because im sure if i had just started my starter i wouldnt like cold mains. mo. :wavey:

its unlikely u would ever have just started ur appetizers as if the pantry was running THAT slow, as a server i would ask the main kitchen to hold the mains back as long as i could but usually if people are taken mains while on apps, its just as they are finishing off their apps.

if you asked me to take it back to the kitchen i wouldnt be offended at all. If i had done everything correctly then kitchen cant moan at me so id just tell them the mains have to be held back.

Enjoy Le Cellier, the food is lovely and the CMs are really good. It can get a little bit crowded/rushed, but that's just because it's so popular.

I loved Le Cellier - definitely had no problems being rushed!

We had problems at Coral Reef though - the appetizers didn't even arrive before the main course, then when we complained they brought it all out at once - didn't fit on the table. We should really have asked them to take the mains back I guess.

I liked the German restaurant too - but here felt rather rushed - oh well!

We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant - the servers were lovely!

Wish I had tried more places - oh well next time!

cant wait til japan re-opens! so far ive been to france germany mexico and canada. plus ive tried almost everything in the UK while at work.

le cellier was the best food, but i really enjoyed mexico just because i think its all very well themed and you really feel like u are somewhere else completely ( or maybe thats just coz i had too many magraritas?!)

We loved Le Cellier but we too were rushed. Having tried Kobe we werent impressed with Teppanyaki, but having said that it was OK. We used to love the wonderful serene atmosphere of Akershus in the evening and the food was to die for. However, now it is just slop on a plate and the place is completely crazy in the evening with the intro of the princesses.
We are so looking forward to trying Coral Reef. With so much fish on the menu, it will suit us down to the ground.
