This is my first post - so hello! :wavey:

I'll be staying at the Pop Century in September and have a question about the pools. Do they have opening/closing times? Just wondering whether we could go for a dip after getting back from the parks, before bedtime!

Thanks in advance for any info ... I am finding this forum very useful!

 Hello and a big warm welcome to the Dibb!

There are times posted at the pools indicating when lifeguards are on duty, but we have certainly seen people swimming outwith those times so pools are not closed as such. I suspect as long as you are not disturbing other guests then late swims would be OK.

Thank you for the welcome and reply :D !

That's great news. We'd be very quiet - just a few lengths to cool off before bed.

Pop looks like great fun! Can't wait for our hols.

Hello and welcome! If i remember correctly the lifeguards were on duty till 10pm when we were there at the end of May/start of June. (whether it'll be the same later in the year i don't know) We also saw people in the pool just before midnight!

We stayed in August 2005 and the only time the pools were closed were during the afternoon lightening storms - the rest of the time you could swim whenever - we stayed in the 1990's Block which was well away from the main complex and therefore there were very rarely anyone around in the night, they said the pools closed after midnight, but not where we were, so lots of guests were swimming well into the night. I think we all just appreciated others were in bed, but it was heaven swimming at that time. I think the latest we swam was around 2am, and that was after a very long day at MK. Also make sure you take a travel kettle, you cant get drinks after midnight from the Hotel it closes.

Ask for 1990's Block and you will find that you have a lovely pool and parking is right beside it. You may have to walk to the main complex, but it gives you that bit of peace and quiet after all that mayhem of the parks.

Hi

I am presuming that it is the same as All Star Music. There the lifeguards finished around 6pm but the pools don't close as such and people were still in them at 2am some nights. As long as you are quiet security won't bother you!

We found them a great place to go to cool down (water is warmish) if you could not sleep and were often there till around midnight or even later, We wern't alone neither, some nights there were dozens there! We used the smaller "Piano Pool" An ideal way to relax before bed.

We also are going to Pop and hope to get a room near the smaller "Computer Pool" for this very reason! Foodcourt is open till around 11pm or later to refill those refillable mugs (the hot chocolate is lovely for a nightcap)

I hope this helps. Regards, AJAXON :wavey:

In our experience at The Caribbean Beach resort the life guards all went off duty at 10 pm, like at Pop, however there was some sign that if i can cast my mind back said something along the lines of, swim after 10pm at your own risk.
We will also be at the Pop in september so if we see someone swimming at midnight ill know it's a Dibber!

You can swim at any time during the night at your own risk, as long as you are quiet and not causing a danger to yourself or others.
The security guards at the All stars have always been lovely, I'd imagine they are just as good at Pop

Thanks so much for your replies! This forum is so lovely and friendly!

Mickey's Tyke - hey, that's great - more Yorkshire people at Pop! We're only there for 4 nights, unfortunately: 27th - 30th September. Then going to Miami for a couple of nights, on to Key West for three nights, and then back to Orlando for four nights on International Drive before home. Can't wait!

Where is it best to stay if you want to be away from the pools? I'm not sure I'd be that happy being kept awake by midnight swimmers so a quiet block would be a blessing.

I imagine 70's is the quietest as its not close to any of the 3 pools as such. You could always try the 00's to 40's on the other side of the lake if you are after peace and quiet lol ;)

Each Block overlooks each pool - so not far to go - not sure which pool it is though sorry.

We stayed in 70s which does not have a pool, we requested a top floor (no pitter patter above heads then) and to be close to food court - got both and no problems with noise. We were close to everything but it wasn't noisy.

I threw up in the Fantasia pool once (slipped got water up my nose went dizzy and yuck), once I was capable of getting out went straight to find a cast member. They didn't seem too bothered said something about it being the fifth time today. I don't know why anyone wouldn't just say sorry I've had an accident. :(

this has been an interesting post for me, I've been wondering what time the pools opened in the mornings as I like to have a swim first thing and was wondering if this would be possible really early before the rest of the family are up. Now I know it'll be ok I can look forward to enjoying all the benefits of the DDP!
