Has anyone stayed here recently? Am thinking about booking for Oct with TCD. Can you walk to many restaurants? Hope someone can help. :wavey:

Hi
I have not stayed at the hotel, but can tell you that there are plenty of places to eat nearby.
Have a look at this map Click here (http://www.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&output=search&q=Sheraton+Safari+Hotel+And+Suites+Lake+Buena+Vist a&fb=1&cid=0,0,13372203057086208110&near=Orlando,+FL&oi=manybox&ct=10&cd=1&resnum=1), change to the HYBRID VIEW and nearly all the small places on there are places to eat:)

we stayed last September and the reviews were awful which terrified us.
We had the most wonderful stay there and I would highly recommend staying there.
Ask for room in Building one, facing the pool.

There is a pizza place right next door and there are some Mexican restaurants a short walk (1/2 mile or so). There is also a breafast buffet next door. We tried the pizza place and had breakfast buffet, both were ok.
Hope this helps
Thanks for replies, thought there would be more within walking distance, maybe this isn't the right resort for us. We want to be able to go out at night and not have to drive home, any ideas?
There isn't the variety that you get on I Drive.
Think I might look at I drive ( been there oncee & fancied somewhere different).
This will be our first time on I Drive, staying at the Homewood suites.

Nooooooooooo, you cant do that surely.
I-drive is awful.
You are in a great area with SS, there are many restaurants in walking distance.
:omg: :omg: :omg: :omg:
Thanks, I had read that you can walk to about 15 restaurants from SS. We will have a car but of an evening would like the odd bottle of wine with dinner, seems closer to parks than ID as well, not sure where to look now!

WE staryed at the SS a few years ago and found plenty of places to eat within walking distance. There isn't as much choice as ID but we much preferred Lake Buena Vista to ID. Saying that we stayed at the Wyndham on ID ( was the Marriot then) and we loved it there also.
LB is better location for the Disney Parks and not too far from DD from which you could always get a taxi.
Glad to be getting some positive answers, thanks everyone. Any ideas about costs for taxi's? Think I am being swayed towards SS at LBV :)

Lake Buena Vista is sooo much nicer, theres Bahama Breeze near and quite a few other restaurants, I dont think it would cost more than a fiver because they are not that far away.

We have stayed just round the corner from here and I would say there are at least 20 restaurants within 15 mins walk, some much less. Particular favourites are the Orlando Ale House , Olive Garden and Black Angus steak house. There is also a half decent Indian restaurant a few minutes walk up Palm Parkway.
Thoroughly recommend this area.

we have just returned from the courtyard by marriott at the vista centre whick is 2 minutes walk from sheraton safari. There are lots of restaurant s within walkin distance. At the vista centre there is a buffet, hooters, japanese, cicis pizza, dominos pizza to name a few. Then across the road there is dennys, burger king, olive garden and black angus steak house. Next to sheraton safari is sizzlers, shoneys and much more. Across the road is a chinese buffet, ihop, mexican and subway to name a few. Our favourite was the orlando ale house which is opposite sheraton safari, the food and cocktails were amazing and fantastic prices. Driving from here is straight forward, sheraton is on apopka vineland, about quarter mile down you take a left and you are on disney property and take a left from your hotel and drive for about ten minutes and you reach universal without taking any main roads. There is also a walmart within 5 minute ddrive. Waffling on pm me if you want any more info but loved staying in this area, even saw 4th july fireworks from downtown disney from our balcony. :spin:
The last time we stayed in a hotel was in November 1999 as since then we have always stayed in a villa (we need the space with two sons!!) That hotel was the Sheraton Safari and we loved it there. Cannot fault it at all. It was spotlessly clean, the staff were really nice and helpful and food/drinks were all great. Our sons loved the python water slide and went down it so many times, it`s a wonder they didn`t get dizzy!! ;-) www.sheratonsafari.com
