What is solar heating and do you need to turn it on or is it automatic?

andy

we had a villa[for 2 trips] with solar heating, it has to be turned on like leccy heating does, but after that its free. the panels were on the roof of the villa. also the water is just as warm as leccy heating i found and also saves you around £140 a fortnight :)

Solar heat will not work the same way as gas/electric heating works so if you are going mid winter i would take this on board

Hey Andy

If its there and free then use it. you may get charged by the MC to turn it on though
I still dont think you need it

Hi Essexmick

Some people want a nice warm pool to swim in in the winter - so it just depends what you want. I know that solar heating will not get the temp to 30 degrees. that was all i was trying to say

I am very surprised that more villas do not have solar heating, even although it may still have to be suplemented by electric or gas in the winter

a villa owner I know has solar heating and when we met him in 2005 he was fitting some more extra solar heating panels himself

I also don't know if you need pool heat in the summer - but I'll find out in a couple of days time!

I know the water parks are not heated in the summer

thats OK, i do get what your saying tho :).

i know when we went in October 1st trip the heating hadn't been put on and the water was ice cold, i doubt it could have been much colder but it was great when it was switched on tho :)

I would say you definitely don't need it in summer otherwise it would be like a bath!! We once had it on in May and even then it eas too warm.

I did not think we had or needed it before when we went in the summer but just wanted to be sure.
