View Full Version : Pirates Fireworks & Princesses
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/web_images/FPNews/PandP_Logo.jpgA look at the pyro-techniques - Pirate and Princess Party
Everyone’s thrilled that Disney’s Pirate and Princess Party is coming back for more Magic Kingdom® nights this fall.
It’s another chance to be a part of the fun, from lessons in being a royal guard to dances with Ariel’s friends, as well as enough games, laughs and Disney Character meetings to fill a scrapbook.
Plus a fantastic fireworks finale
For many Guests, the Magic, Music and Mayhem fireworks spectacular is a major reason to attend. “I wrote it to be an event within the event,” said Walt Disney Creative Entertainment Show Director Chris Oyen. “All of us in Creative Entertainment were looking for a real story with a beginning, middle and end. The first challenge was figuring out how to blend the themes of pirates and princesses.
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/web_images/FPNews/piratesparty1.jpg“It turned out to be simple: why would pirates want to visit a magical castle? To capture it, of course! So we begin with Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, joined by Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and King Triton. This leads to a waltz that is ‘danced’ by the fireworks in the sky. Our musical director and arranger, Steve Skoija and Gordon Goodwin, really outdid themselves with their rendition of great Disney songs.
“But Captain Hook summons up forces of pirate behavior. Now as this has been happening, we’ve been widening our sky canvas. The explosive images have spread out like a wide-screen movie. Triton tries to stop them and regain control, and there’s an amazing battle with what appear to be mortar shots hitting the Castle. These are some of the most daring effects we’ve ever attempted, but the story really led us to come up with new ways to use the technology.
“Just when Hook thinks he’s won, our live Tinker Bell takes victory right out of his grasp! Her entrance is really motivated by the action of the story. We may have asked her to fly for us before, much as she used to do on Disney TV shows, but this is perhaps the first time she’s taken such a dramatic role in vanquishing the villains.”
And a pixie shall lead them
Guests are truly inspired by the show in ways no one had ever expected. “One of the most gratifying things for me was to hear people laugh!” Chris said. “With fireworks, we can usually get folks to gasp and ooh and aah, but this is different. Shows like Wishes™ and IllumiNations taught us we had the ability to make an emotional impact through music, fireworks and lighting from a number of directions within and around the Park. This takes it to a whole other level.”

thanks Stu .. booked my tickets yesterday :spin: just need an outfit now ;)
28 August is our last night  and I've booked an ADR for 7pm at Liberty Tree Tavern. Will we need to buy tickets for the Pirates & Princess event in order to be able to stay and see the fireworks that night or will we have to leave the park after dinner? Quite happy to do this but need to get a shift on in case they are sold out! Thanks!
Answered my own question - yes we do! The park closes at 7pm that night. Have just got 4 e-tickets - something great to look forward to on our last night. :)

You do not have to be a passholder to go to the party.

We went on 21st last month and found it fantastic, the evening parade and special Wishes was worth the tickets alone. We will definitely do this again next year if it's on again.
I feel really sorry for those that purchased tickets for Friday 24th Aug. as there was a really bad storm and I don't think there was a parade or Wishes :(

We went on the 24th and the weather was REALLY bad until around 10.30pm... the first parade was cancelled, but the second went ahead - however we were on Splash Mountain at the time, stuck at the top, so we only saw the pirate bit!! The fireworks went ahead an hour later than planned, thank god as it was amazing!! A lot of the things were moved indoors so we didn't know where they were, like the Pirate Tutorial which we never saw and we were soaked to our skins.... a lot of the outdoor rides were closed until around 10.30 too.
I hope it's on again next year, as I think it would've been a really good night just it was spoiled by the storm :(
Barry&Caron - I think we saw you at the airport, but I wasn't too sure, so didn't say hello!!

We were sat at the end of a row with Josh in his wheelchair. I wish you had said 'hello'.
That night was awful weather, we were eating in Chef Mickey's and had to wait a while for our table as people didn't want to leave.

Caron - I think I was behind you in the queue to get food vouchers in the airport... but I wasn't too sure it was you! Was there a young girl - early 20s - behind you?
