Hi all :wavey:
As we're not going back to Florida until Sep 2008 we're looking for a cheap 2 week holiday at beginning May 2008 to get some lovely sun. We originally looked at Gran Canaria and Lanzarote and now we've moved onto Turkey (mainly because of the price and weather).
Now, I went there back in 1999 and stayed in Altinkum. But for some reason everyone at work says turkey's not a nice place to go to anymore. Does anyone here have any opinons and recommended places in Turkey as I wouldn't mind trying Olu Deniz or something. I know I liked Altinkum and would go back there but would also like to try something different.
Any opinions or help appreciated?
Thanks
Hi, we are in the same boat as you! We are not returning to Florida until october '08 and cannot wait until then to get some sun :( so we are just about to book a week in April, all-inclusive in Tunisia.
We too looked at the Canary Islands but decided it was too expensive! :confused2
If you do to Turkey my advice would be to go 5 star. Its a lovely country and the people are lovely, but particularly with children, the cleanliness can be a bit hit and miss. I would def go back, but 5 star - prices are very reasinable.

Tell me about it. 1 year 1 month tommorow we shall be on our way back to Florida but it seems light years away :(
Canary Islands are lovely but like you said we're looking at approx £1000 for 2 weeks whereas turkey is £560 - such a difference and that's the money we saved on Florida as we paid £1250 for Sep 08 yet this year was £1820 so that's why we're looking at another holiday. ;)
Hooray!
Couldn't wait 'til Oct '08 to get some sun, so just booked a week in Tunisia for April '08.
All-inclusive for 6 of us £1916 including 2 free child places - Canary Islands was double that price!
Anyone stayed at the IBEROSTAR PHENICIA in Hammamet? What was it like? The reviews on Trip Advisor & Holidays Uncovered are excellent, so hope it lives up to expectations!

HI ,we stayed in Marmaris,Turkey for the past two years running and loved it ! The hotel Julian is a fantastic hotel - run by Airtours and offers something for everyone.Things have got a bit more expensive but it is still cheaper than spain , warmer and in parts prettier , why not give it a go.

We've been to the Belek area of Turkey on a couple of holidays. The area is all 4-5 star all-inclulsive hotels and is excellent for golfers and beach lovers as well and has a really good dolmus system from the hotels to the two nearby towns.
Can really recommend the Sun Zeynep hotel we had a really relaxing beach holiday there with a few trips out. Not sure if it's still the case but only Thomas Cook did that area of Turkey 2 years ago.

Haven't you seen "Midnight Express"? I would never go there.
I always had my doubts about turkey but in 2004 and stayed at Lykia World in Olu Deniz.
It was absolutlely fantastic,we had no problems at all.
Turkey is beautiful and the Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz is breathtaking.
Hi, we are looking at the Cornelia Deluxe Resort in Belek for next year. Looks really nice........
