We are planning a 3 week trip at the end of Jan 2005 for two adults. After toying around with the virgin website for many hours have come to the following choices.

Fantasy world club villas, its nice and central on the 192 and plenty of room for the two of us and have found some very favourable reviews on the trip advisor website.

Virgins own 3 bedroom villa. They are at Lake Davenport and we have no experience of this location, travel times etc. BUT it only works out at £50 more for the 3 weeks, so very tempting obviously.

Your views and comments would be most welcome, especially any information on lake davenport area. We have stayed in hotels the past 3 trips but would like more home comforts this time around. thanks.

Hi Alison,

We stayed in a Villa at Lake Davenport on our last trip to the World. It is a lovely area, our Villa was wounderful. On that trip we did two weeks at the villa in Lake Davenport and a week at St Pete's. The Villa at Lake Davenport was much better. It was that good we are thinking of renting it again in 2005!
It is about 15 mins to Disney and the closest place to eat would be the 192, which has loads of great places to eat.

I would def say Lake Davenport!! :jump:

What ever you decided enjoy your trip!! :D

Hi Alison,
Myself, hubby and our two sons have been to Florida three times and are going for a fourth time Spring 2004. The first time we went with British Airways Holidays, second time with Virgin Atlantic Holidays and third time we went D.I.Y. It was much cheaper this way and we got the flydrives really cheap with a charter airline and had a fabulous villa in Clear Creek. I have a friend who lives in Lake Davenport and it is gorgeous there, so I would fully recommend it to you. Flydrives are far cheaper with charter airlines than with scheduled ones, but the scheduled planes such as Virgin are far superior in comfort, etc. Of course the catch is that schedule flydrives are pricier than charter flydrives!! We will be going D.I.Y. again and have founda really good company that do villas out there. I know people who have been with this company so they are safe and above board etc. If you want to know the name, no. etc. of the company or anything else, just let me know.
Best Wishes,
Fiona.

I'd definately recommend the villa. The extra space and comfort, plus the bonus of your own pool is more than worth the extra £50. Having stayed in villas in all but 2 of my trips (and the other 2 times were quick unplanned visits from other parts of the US) I'd NEVER want to go back to staying in a hotel there.

Davenport is nice - our last villa was there. It's slightly further out - on US27 at the western end of 192, so driving times are slightly more, but not by much. The estate was quiet and safe.

Whether it is Lake Davenport or Davenport Lakes -they are two separate communities -both are within about 12 mins of the parks .They are ideally placed for all the attractions ,the I-4 and the coasts. There is a publix within 5 mins drive and a Wal-Mart near Haines City rather than the one on the 192,From this end of the area you can use the Sherbeth Road shortcut to get to the parks .

The communities along the 27 -especially at the W 192 end are all established -so no building works and are a nice mixture of str and residential homes. Most of my guests comment on how peaceful it is yet how close to everything and as ajmaggs says they all feel safe.
