View Full Version : Singles Holidays
Sad I know, but I'm 30yr old female and I don't have a partner or friends to go away with because they are all attached  I would like to go away somewhere next year which wouldn't cost the earth. Where can I go which wouldn't leave me feeling like a spare part? :o:

you could always post the dates of your hols on here, then you can join some fellow dibbers, i for one would be happy for you to join us! or, there may be some other single dibbers who are looking for a holiday mate. wait and see i'm sure someone will be along shortly

Hi there,
I went on a singles holiday 12 years ago and it was the best holiday ever! I went with a company called Small World, not sure if it is still going or try Solo. Ages when I went were between 17 and 72.
Im sure you will have a good time wherever you go.
I'm on my own now and cannot bear the thought of a group or organised 'singles specific' holiday, so I'm off to Skiathos in September!
To a hotel I've been to before and in a resort I know so that nothing is too much of a hassle (finding places to eat etc) last time I saw a few singles and it's the kind of place that no one seems to mind or care if you are on your own.
If it goes well, will be another Greek island next year, or maybe one of those island hopping small boat cruises - really fancy those..........
I was booked to go for a fortnight in Thailand on a solo trip with Just You travel but had to cancel :( . They go to loads of destinations and there are a wide range of ages too. I'm in the same position as you and after my Florida holiday next year with my godchildren I'll be looking into a solo holiday again. I hope you find something you're interested in!
Thank you Wazzimama :D
I have looked into solo travelling companies but I am really not the 'backpacking' type which is what they seem to stick to a majority of the time not to mention the prices they charge for the 'convenience'.
Aww JessD, sorry to hear that you had to cancel.
I went on 3 holidays - Australia, New Zealand and USA/Canada with Contiki when I was single - don't know if they are still going, but they catered for 18- 35yr olds, they did europe as well. I made friends who I still keep in touch with 18 yrs on ( whoops ! giving my age away now ! :D )

Hi
I'm going to WDW with my daughter (who will be 12) in July next year - you are more than welcome to join us.
One of my work colleagues went to WDW on her own last year - she had a fantastic time - she said that the only time she felt a bit awkward (sp) was went she went to Planet Hollywood for a meal but other than that, no-one batted an eyelid and she was absolutely fine.
Like Wazzimama said - more people will be along to offer advice but the offer still stands.

As i am getting divorced i will be doing single hols, though i usually manage a holiday with a friend but this has to be cheap for her.
I am looking at going further afield next year - possibly a Safari

Well I'm off on my own for the first time in years ( long story! after many many coupley holidays) in November.
I'm off the the States, as I've found it is one of the few countries in the world where you can walk into a restaurant on your own and not feel like the whole place is looking at you thinking you are weird !
I'm off to San Diego for 3 days sightseeing around the bay area, then driving over to Vegas, as I've found that, that is probably the one place in the world where you'll end up in a conversation even if you didn't want to be - lol
It's my first time doing a truly 'single' holiday but I'm looking forward to the adventure of it all, even better, not having to plan an itinerary to suit a partner, just decide to do something...and then do it !
I'm in the same situation where all of my mates are coupled-up, and the opportunities to get away on a mates holiday are severely limited, so I've taken the decision to not sit in the house, staring at the walls whist on holiday, and to get out and explore the West Coast.
I'd recommend TripAdvisor, which has a pile of useful info about places, safety, things to do and see and places to stay. I've been lucky enough to have travelled to a few parts of the States and Europe, so feel free to PM me if I can offer any help. If I've not been there, I can at least point you in the right direction of the t'internet - lol
Good Luck with the planning and have a great time
Dave
We will most likely be going back to Florida in September/October next year, just me and DD..... youd be more than welcome to come with us or book by yourself at the same time and trail around with us.....DD loves the big rides, TOT, Hulk, Duelling Dragons etc, and i mortally hate them......she would be soooo glad to have a "ride buddy"!

Oh My God !
This so calls for a reunion of the single dibbers holiday club !
It started by e-mail earlier on in the year but I was sorting it all out and lost internet access for quite a while.
I am 26 and fed up of holidaying with my parents or family ! I am hoping to buy a house soon, but feel free to PM me, if we get along ok I would be more than happy to be your travelling buddy.
FYI - I dont do backpacking either !
Love,
Gill xx
Hi Gill, I'm Paula, 30yrs old and although I get along ok with my parents, it also would be nice to holiday with someone other than my them! Absolutely LOVE Disney and wouldn't mind trying a Safari, skiing or more of the USA...
