Lotus Blossom

The Lotus Blossom was closed for a much needed refurbishment when we visited in January. They’ve done a nice job and it looks much smarter now.
We’ve enjoyed many an Oriental snack here – usually it’s when Illuminations is about to begin in 15 minutes and we suddenly realise we’re starving!
We could always guarantee that a quick and tasty treat from Lotus Blossom would do the trick.
Anyway, along with the new look, they had a new menu so I was quite excited about eating here again.

Paul had Vegetarian Stir Fry with Steamed Rice

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/July%202007%20-%20Saratoga%20Springs/Food%20July%202007/Disney_Jul07_EP_016.jpg

Well it was indeed vegetarian, but it wasn’t stir fried.
I’m telling you, if these veggies had seen the inside of a wok, then I’m a Chinaman!
There was a mix of steamed carrots, cabbage and broccoli, along with some mushrooms and Kau-fu in soy sauce.
Kau–fu is a sort of glutinous, spongy dumpling affair and is much worse than the dreaded tofu in my book! Made me shudder just to look at it!

I had Orange Chicken with Steamed Rice

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/July%202007%20-%20Saratoga%20Springs/Food%20July%202007/Disney_Jul07_EP_017.jpg

My dish wasn’t as bad as Paul’s but it wasn’t good.
The meagre bit of sauce tasted overly sweet, but improved when you got a piece of orange rind to give it a bit of punch, and the term chicken was a bit of a misnomer as the dish consisted mainly of completely empty balls of deep-fried batter!

We were very disappointed with the food. Not only was it quite horrid you get less of it :erm: :pgig: and the prices have increased!
Unless they make some changes quicksmart, this visit will be the last!

So glad you have started your reports Sue!! :spin: I have been waiting for them, can you tell?!

Not so good at the Lotus Blossom then? We had a quick snack here last Sept and it was ok, not as nice as the chinese you get here but not bad.
I wouldnt fancy Pauls dish though, that looks a bit weird. :confused2

Really looking forward to the next instalment, whats getting the McSue treatment next? ;)

I'm gutted at reading this!
The Lotus Blossom was one of our favourites in Epcot.
Here's hoping it improves.

I'm really disappointed to hear such a horrid report on "disney" food. I had food from there last year, may I think and have praised it ever since, it was hte best chinese ever. One portion fed two people, it was amazing!!!!

Can any one recommend any where else?

Sorry the report was unfavourable ( or should that be unflavourable :omg: ) this time.

We have had lots of tasty meals here in the past. I really don't know why they've changed the menu so drastically.

Hopefully it will improve and you'll have better luck than we did

They serve some very tasty Oriental food at Sunshine Seasons which is located next to Soarin, in the Land Pavillion.

Oh goodie mcsue's finally got her act together!! ;)

Shame it was a bit of a poor start though :( Must say never fancied eating there as Chinese takeaway is the last thing on my mind in Orlando, this has not changed that thought one bit :omg:

Thanks for another great review Sue. It's a pity the food wasn't as good as the review.

Funny you should mention the E numbers Tracey. That's exactly what I was saying to Paul at the time. I could feel it 'doing me bad', it was so very processed. :(

Shame it wasn't very good.. I had this one our possible list for CS in Epcot (been going through the menus to see which have the best veggie options) but I think we'll go somewhere else ;)
