Lotus Blossom

The Lotus Blossom was closed for a much needed refurbishment when we visited in January. They’ve done a nice job and it looks much smarter now.
We’ve enjoyed many an Oriental snack here – usually it’s when Illuminations is about to begin in 15 minutes and we suddenly realise we’re starving!
We could always guarantee that a quick and tasty treat from Lotus Blossom would do the trick.
Anyway, along with the new look, they had a new menu so I was quite excited about eating here again.
Paul had Vegetarian Stir Fry with Steamed Rice

Well it was indeed vegetarian, but it wasn’t stir fried.
I’m telling you, if these veggies had seen the inside of a wok, then I’m a Chinaman!
There was a mix of steamed carrots, cabbage and broccoli, along with some mushrooms and Kau-fu in soy sauce.
Kau–fu is a sort of glutinous, spongy dumpling affair and is much worse than the dreaded tofu in my book! Made me shudder just to look at it!
I had Orange Chicken with Steamed Rice

My dish wasn’t as bad as Paul’s but it wasn’t good.
The meagre bit of sauce tasted overly sweet, but improved when you got a piece of orange rind to give it a bit of punch, and the term chicken was a bit of a misnomer as the dish consisted mainly of completely empty balls of deep-fried batter!
We were very disappointed with the food. Not only was it quite horrid you get less of it :erm: :pgig: and the prices have increased!
Unless they make some changes quicksmart, this visit will be the last!
