Sorry if this seems like a silly question but as my holiday is getting closer i have to try and think of everything that i need to organise (as you can all imagine)

We have the free Disney Dining on our upcoming trip & i was curious to know how/when/where we get the credits? Are they collected once you're in WDW or sent out with your tickets??

It's just something i'd not thought about before now, so any further information would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks

As far as i know the credits are put on your room key. So therefore you should get everything you need when you check in. :)

we got our (virgin) tickets the other day and these included a voucher for the DDp to hand in at the hotel, my understanding is that they are added onto your room key an d whenever you go for a meal you will be given a receipt telling you how many credits you have left.

Thanks for that :D

Will me & my DF get two seperate keys with our credits on or do you just have one room key with the combined amount?

Sorry for all the questions - Disney Virgin :)

Florifan: Thanks again

When you check in your credits are on your room key. We had that explained to us as soon as we arrived, Each time you use a credit it will be deducted from your total. You will get a receipt, say as you go to the till with your counter service meal. The card will be run through the till, you will get a receipt and the remaining credits will show. Its the same at a table service restaurant. The card will be taken at the end of the meal. You will be given a receipt and the remaining credits will show. You must remember to tell your server you are on the plan at the beginning of the meal if he hasnt already asked.
The credits will be pooled collectively if you are both on the booking. You can use either card but we were told (no idea why) that it is better just to stick to one.

As Mags says - we got confused that when we first used our room key to pay for a CS meal, it said at the bottom 12 credits left and did not realise that the TOTAL credits for your party are on each receipt. So any so any room key card can be used for any DDP credit.

You can always check on the number of credits left if you lose track, just go to the Concierge desk at your resort and they will let you know.

For each person you get 14 table service meals, 14 counter service meals, 14 snack credits.

For each person you get 14 table service meals, 14 counter service meals, 14 snack credits.

So the first time you all have a CS meal, your receipt will show 52 CS credits left!! (You will start with 56)
Same for snacks and TS meals - you will always be counting down from a 56 credit total start :thumbs-up

The only other possible confusion is if you are doing a split resort stay, we did 7 days at Wilderness Lodge and 7 at the Yacht Club, for some reason (not sure if it was Thomas Cook or Disney) these were counted as separate bookings, so we had 7 days worth of credits at WL which ended at midnight the day we checked out there. Then we started with a new 7 days worth from day we checked in at the YC.

Don't worry, it will all fall into place once you get there - and as I mentioned, Concierge are really helpful if you get confused.

You really do need to try and keep track of your credits used though as Coral Reef debited us twice and I had to spot the error on our next TS meal receipt and draw it to their attention. :omg:

Does anyone know if everyone has to be present at the till when buying the meals on the dining plan? Usually our kids go and find a seat and DH and I get the food.

The only other thing to point out is some of the TS meals count as 2 credits eg cinderella's royal table, Brown Derby etc if you look on the dining link on the home page it gives more info or look on http://www.thedibb.co.uk/disney-dining-plan.php

Remember that if you don't use all your credits by the end of the holiday you just lose them so a degree of planning is required especially if you intend to spend any amount of time away from Disney property.
