Hi,
I am in the process of planning our itinary (nearly there!!). Am I right in thinking that as Labor day is the 3rd, all shopping that weekend is exempt from tax? If so, have any of you any experience of how busy the shops are that weekend? We would normally do IOA on our last day (the 2nd) but believe the parks will be really busy that weekend?
Any info would be appreciated!

Labor Day is 3rd of September but the shopping is still taxable. You might be thinking of the days that Florida has for back to school buying but that ends today (13/08). Be sure to get an Orlando Sentinel newspaper on Sunday as it will have a lot of the Labor Day sale adverts in it. Friday may have a few as well.

The parks will be busier but not crazy crowded. Most of the schools in the US will have started (including the Universities) but the kids will have that Monday off.

Someone told me that most of the shops shut on 03/09 for the holiday. Is this true? I have never been to Florida on this date before and was just wondering!

We were shopping in the Florida Mall last year on Labor day. All the shops were open, and there were lots of sales. I don't remember anything being closed for the holiday.

We'll be hitting the shops hard on the 3rd, first stop for us will be Premium Outlets and then as many more places as possible. Premier Outlets, Florida Mall, Mall at Millenia, Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets. What order (of best sales) would you say to do these in and are there any more places we should shop at?

I suggest that you buy an Orlando Sentinel on both Friday and Sunday (at the very least on Sunday). These paper will have the Labor Day sales in it. The outlet stores don't advertise so I suggest that you go to the website for both Premium and LBV and look at the listing of outlets with sales. LBV has printable coupons that can be used (and that is an all time thing not just for a holiday weekend).
