The Prime Outlet, formerly known as Belz Outlet, did open over the weekend. Although there are just a few stores open it still brought in loads of shoppers. The place was packed yesterday. Of course it will be a few more weeks before all of the stores are open but there are shops open and would welcome the crowd that they got yesterday.
Here are a few pictures so that you can see what the new shopping center looks like:

Wow, looks a lot better than when we last visited. So glad it is has been revamped as we were all very disappointed with that visit, although soon got over it with a visit to Orlando Premium Outlets!

We are planning to go there today to take advantage of the last day of tax free shopping. DD needs some Sketchers and they don't have her size at the Premium outlet. The grand opening is supposed to be this weekend

That is right. Today is the last day of tax free shopping.
They did have a huge party and ribbon cutting ceremony at the outlets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They gave away some totes and shopping spree's.
If there is anyone looking for a specific store (to know if it is open) just send me a pm and I'll call and find out their latest details.

Yes, this is where the old Belz use to be. They tore down most of the building and completely rebuilt. You can see the new design in the pictures I posted above. Adidas is one of the stores shown. Last weekend was the grand opening but as mentioned above they aren't 100% complete.
It is an open type of shopping and not a shopping mall. It looks a lot like Premium Outlet but these are called Prime Outlet.

Can't wait! When we drove up there last summer, it was so disappointing as it looked so neglected. :(
The shops we visited most in the ond Belz were Vans - which was a lot cheaper than the one over the road and the Hard Rock Cafe Outlet shop. Anyone know if they're going to re-open?

The other side which was called the Designer Outlet is still their as some of the stores moved their while the main malls were demolished. I have read that all the stores will move over to the main malls once it is finished next year and the area will flattened to build a few "big box" stores. Originally it was going to stay but I imagine the retailers all want to move into the better section.

Yes they are still their. I don't think they are in the old Belz Designer Outlet but in a section next door to it.

Just got back from a day's shopping here, worn out :o:
Car park was absolutely rammed but strangly enough the mall did not seem that busy :erm:
Spent a fortune in the Timberland store, new pair of oakley shades each for me and the missus from Sunglasses hut ( I got Oakley flak jackets at $140 :thumbs-up ).
Also went into Reebok and got 3 pairs of trainers (buy 2 pairs get the 3rd pair free ! ) and a couple of tops. As we went into the store they gave us a 40% off voucher valid untill 19th August, used that and total bill came to $101 :pgig: :pgig: :pgig:
Great days shopping in a great location. Highly recommended :thumbs-up

Is there a store where I can buy Sketchers and are they much cheaper over there?
No more tax free shopping?? Is that true??

Tax free shopping is just offered for a few days right before the school year starts. Those dates change and I try to announce them when they are released. Watch for a thread closer to your travel dates or pm me and I can give them to you.
As for the car park that is where this new design is poor. Because they don't have a car park surrounding the buildings it causes major back ups. I know that most of the employees are being requested to park at Festival Bay and use the shuttle service. I think once the newness dies down it will be better. I recommend that you go all the way to the end and start looking there. Most turn in at the first option and end up struggling to find something.

We didn't like it at all much prefered the old Belz - this one is designed the same as the Premium outlets (South International Drive) It's open plan so you get wet if it rains and bake if it's hot!! :( Maybe that's the plan to get you into the shops.
Lots of new shops but I don't like the set up at all.
All personal taste of course.

We went last weekend and I agree it is like premium outlets but I quite liked it. Shops seemed slightly different.

Sorry I have to agree with this (I thought I was the only one that thought this). We were up there in September and I just did not like it one bit. I much preferred the old Belz. I think the Nike, Timberland and Reebok shop was so much better when they were across the road in the Annexe.
I can't see us going back up there again. I much prefer premium now

:ccat Is there still a Mikasa? Also Best Buy, a funny little shop in old Beltz, but really cheap OPI polishes and other Beauty products.
:ccat This is a cheshire cat (that's me since we booked last week)!!

Hi Olga... was out there last month and dont remember seeing either in there, the old Beltz was better realy i know it was getting a bit worn looking but there are still loads of empty shops in the new one and Festival Bay so maybe the rates are too high for retailers. Noticed a few had closed down in Festival bay inc Hilo Hati .

I missed Hilo Hatti's I wandered into the new shop which is in it's place and when I asked if Hilo Hatti's had moved the woman was a little snooty!! :erm:

Thanks Malcom, I will just have to wait until we get there in March 2008, maybe more units will be taken.
We went to Festival Bay in Nov. 2005, we were not impressed, again not a lot of units open. Won't bother going again.
Has anyone been to Outdoor World? We were amazed by all the stuffed critters in there. Some nice clothing, but dearer than elsewhere. :nonono:
Also is Dress Barn Woman still open opposite Prime? (Malcolm, I don't expect you to know about Dress Barn)!

I liked the beltz used to have coffee and doughnut for breakfast while we waited for it opening, there was something about the atmosphere of the place and the carasoul was lovely. I take it that it isn't there anymore, sometimes new isn't better.

!
Festival bay was dismal when we went late in 2005, not intending to go back, especally as we're a tad too old for surf wear.
Outdoor world - very much a huntin' shootin' and finshin' kinda place. I felt uncomfortable in there anyway, but the needs of the hunter are different to the needs of the hill-walker so not much to buy for me. Obviously, not much hill walking in Florida so not many shops, unlike New England which is packed with outdoors shops. After a thorough virtual search the nearest outdoors shop that caters to hikers, campers and climbers is in Altamonte Springs, about 20 miles North of I-drive. If we get the time I might suggest a visit in December.

I loved the old Belz too - knew where everything was and could just visit the shops in a couple of hours, get all my bargains and vamoose! The carousel was fab too - kept me quiet when I was younger (before I discovered the enjoyment of shopping ;) )
In the new Prime Outlet set-up is there a Sketchers shop like there was in the old one?
Thanks
