Ive narrowed my choice of NYC hotels down to:
Westin Times Sq
Millenium Hilton
On The Ave
These get the best reviews that are in my Price bracket!
I booked the Millenium Hilton once before but it came down on 9/11 so Im almost too superstitious to book it again!
Expedia have the Westin on special offer which makes it almost the same price...am I right to think that Id be better off midtown than in the financial district where the MH is?
Also, "On The Ave" gets good reviews, anyone heard of this?
Cheers!

Hi
Been to both Westin & Millenium Hilton. Went with the Kids to the Westin as it was more central. Went in February this year. Yes it is very central and the rooms are really nice, I must say I much preferred the Millenium Hilton however there was only me and DH when we stayed there two years ago.
We had a room overlooking ground Zero on the 50th Floor (requested a high room when checking in) and the view was sensational. As I was up at 4 every morning :omg: I would just sit on the very large windowsill (floor to ceiling windows) and look at ground zero thinking of those that lost their lives. You may think that this was quite morbid but it somehow helped me to understand what happended. Yes the hotel is alot further out and we did have a tube ride to Times Square but we liked being away from it all. Depends what you want really. There are some great eateries round there especially for breakfast. Also century21 designer outlet for shopping.
However if going with Kids again would choose the Westin as we were on the doorstep of Times Square. If you need to know anything else let me know.
Fiona :)

Thanks Trish, :thumbs-up
We stayed at The Westin Times Square in Feb this year, we loved the Westin, its in a really fantastic central location, which for us was just we needed to explore the city. Times Square is just so very close and great when walking back every day through Times Square.
The hotel itself is beautiful, very modern and chic, the rooms are superb, fantastic beds, very modern with beautiful bathrooms.
For us The Westin was everything that wanted from accomodation in NY. WE where so impressed that we are going again in 4 weeks during our Florida stay with the kids and my parents, cant wait.
I have never stayed at the other hotels, so cant really comment,. I just think that being near to ground zero is not as central as The Westin. Its all down to personal choice.
Whatever you decide you will have so much fun. :thumbs-up
