View Full Version : BE AWARE! Howard Johnson Suites, Hawiian Court
This is a warning to Dibb members about the HoJo in Hawiian Court, I-Drive.
We booked a non-smoking room in the HoJo and we were put in a Smoking, We complained and asked reception for a Non-Smoking room and the only one availible was facing the road but we had paid for one to face the pool. We stayed in the SM room and had an OZone machine in there. After a few days the room flooded in an inch of water with all our clothes, food and drink ruined. NO FORM OF COMPENSATION WAS OFFERED EXCEPT TOKENS FOR THE DRYER AND WASHER!!!! We complained to a ignorant manager who decided to re-emburse the cost of our goods. The second room was smoking and after 2 days the Air Con broke and we had to have Portable Air Conditioners to keep the room cool. The pool Broke for 2 days afeter the electrics fused and the breakfast consisted of Cake, 2 cerals, fruit, Orange Juice and Crossaints

Ohhhh no :mad2: sounds awful -- were you booked through a travel agent? if so contact them for some kind of compensation. Also try writing to Howard Johnston direct and send a copy to the manager at the hotel.
Hope you have some luck. And thanks for the warning
jj.....
thanks for the warning, had booked this hojo for two weeks, but have been able to cancel and have now booked homewood suites
near universal. does anyone have any experience of this one?
Hi Ceri!
And a BIG welcome to the DIBB!
I think that there are a couple who have stayed there - see this link (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15177) or start a new thread just for info on Homewood Suites.
The Homewwod is an excellent hotel, they couldn't do more for you! A real good hotel, there really cheap for 14 nts with Travel City Direct!

I was in Homewood Suites, I Drive, in July/August 2001. It was very good and in a great location - we could walk to restaurants any night. Also on Monday to Thursday they serve free beer and wine between 5 to 7 pm, usually with a selection of tasters from local restaurants.
If you want any more details, let me know and I'll tell you all I can.
Cheers,
Sandra

Dan
Really glad to hear that the Homewood Suites is a good hotel. We had stayed in Q.Inn Int on the Drive in 2001.It was functional but that was about it.The only thing in it's favour was that we all could eat cheaply. The advantage of H.Suites seems to be good in that it offers free shuttles to all the parks,a buffet breakfast and of course the free drinks-to have self catering facilities too should make it a good choice.I think the southern end of the drive is much nicer than the central or northern end and of course there are the shops
Here's looking forward to next August!:jump: :jump: :jump:
Sandra, What dates in 2001 were you in the Homewood?

Hi
I stayed at the Homewood in April this year, the one within walking distance to Pointe Orlando. There is another further up
I-Drive nearer to US,and the facilities are probably the same in both.
My DH and I enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back next April.

Dan,
As I recall, we went on about 28th July and came home on around 20th August. Were you there around then?
We could compare notes about where we were on the day of the tropical storm! Also if you were at KSC the day the shuttle was supposed to launch and was scrubbed 20 minutes before take off!
I was about to apologise for hi-jacking this thread with Homewood Suites when it was about HoJo Suites, then I saw it's your thread, so I guess that's OK!
Cheers,
Sandra
Yeah, we were in the Homewood from the 13th of August, flew in with ATA. I wasn't there for the shuttle take-off but we went for the landing!
Just like to give you an update
Travel Councellors, The firm who ruined our holiday(Wrong Car, Wrong Flights Wrong everything), have finally agreed to give some amount of comp. But, i applaud there Customer Service for being efficent in handling our case.

I think it would be all out war in the reception area if we were given a smoking room.
DH would probably stage a sit in in the reception and put off any would be guests lol.
