I've won two return flights with American Airlines in a competition! I can go to any one of its hub cities and wondering now where to go. Choices are: New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, LA and Dallas/Fort Worth. Not bothered about LA as I've been there twice and not sure about Dallas and Chicago unless Dibbers can persuade me otherwise.

Well, you could fly to Miami and drive to Orlando very easily.

or

New York is just amazing but probably not a '2 week' destination - although no reason you couldn't hire a car and drive up into New England as well.

Boston is also a brilliant city - could you fly into New York and out of Boston - that would be a cool trip.

Or LA - how about a drive up the california coastline - that is supposed to be stunning, or you could head into Las Vegas and also see the Grand Canyon.

Some great choices there :)

Coo, too many choices.
If you've done LA then I think I'd like to do Boston and the area, especially in the "Fall"

WOW!! What a great choice. If I could only drag myself away from Disney World I would love to travel all round the U.S., but I think in your place I would choose either somewhere I REALLY want to go or if you are planning to return to the States at a later date choose somewhere you wouldn't really have thought of going. Also, it depends if you can drive and how fit you are. I cannot drive and although I am a healthy 64 I haven't got quite the amount of stamina I had when I was 40. Good luck anyway I hope you have a great time whichever you choose.

I love NY. Was there in May and will be there again in October.

We flew into Los Angeles last year and drove to Vegas and San Diego. That was a great trip and definately something I recommend.

Washington is a great city as well and there´s sooo much to do. We drove there from NY in May so that is something you could look into. A NY/Washington combo trip. It´s only a 4 hour drive.

Boston and the surrounding area is fantastic! I have been 4 times.

The city is great for walking around and quite safe.

Good shopping, great restaurants and very Brit friendly.

The Duck tour is worth doing and a trip to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox is bril!

We bumped into Bruce Springstein once on Newbury Street!

Oh Chicago is a magnificent city, well worth a visit. We spent 4 nights there during 7 weeks in the USA last year and could have spent a lot more time there.

The attractions aren't as obvious as some of the other cities mentioned but it is just a great walking city. Navy Pier is very nice and the shopping on the Mag Mile is amazing.

I haven't been to NY since 9/11 but it is an amazing city. Boston is also lovely, very easy to walk around with some great attractions such as the Freedom Trail, plus of course you can hire a car and travel around the surrounding areas. Salem is touristy but well worth a visit.

I would opt for a return to Chicago personally but for you the Boston option might be worth taking up.

How about Miami, with a trip down to the keys.

We are off there for a few days in Dec before our cruise and can't wait

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I'm leaning towards Boston at the moment but really like the idea of flying into NY and out of Boston.

Yes, I do feel really lucky.

New York is the best place on earth IMHO!!. There is a heck of a lot to do there, easily a weeks worth. :d:

A few years ago, we hired a car and drove to Buffalo, Niagara AND Toronto from there!!!....AND then all the way down to Washington!! And seriously - we did it in 3-4days!!!! Mad?...tired?...yep!! but GREAT fun!!

Although Boston and Chicago would tempt me too now, but only if you have already done NY and the places above!. :thumbs-up

Make sure we are told your final decision...no pressure!! ;)
