2009/2010 - Ratatouille Coaster - Rumor - (8/22/07) Screamscape sources have informed us that Walt Disney World management has just approved the budget to fast-track construction of a new indoor spinning roller coaster based on the film Ratatouille. As rumored for the past few weeks, the ride system will be based on the coaster design used for Crush’s Coaster that just opened earlier this summer at Walt Disney Studios Paris.

DS and I decided years ago there should be a Monsters Inc roller coaster, similar to the door ride in the movie, how cool would that be.
Not sure about Ratatouille though, seeing as the movie isn't out yet?
Sounds like they are really going to develop the Pixar part of the park.
What with the Toy story ride and now this one announced. Wonder if The Incredibles will get a ride, now that would be cool.

I also had that thought about the door coaster, would be cool as a suspended coaster.
Ratatouille is out in the States!

This coaster is believed to be an adaptation of the Crush coaster over at DLP. I am surprised they went with Ratatouille though. The film (to use a British term) is brilliant. I enjoyed it more than Cars and the Incredibles. Unfortunetely it was squeezed between Shrek 3, and Harry Potter. It came out just before the week of July 4th. This is a very popular holiday for families to go on vacation er ah I mean holiday so it lost some exposure. Don't get me wrong it did well and after a low opening week it did strong the week after the 4th. It just didn't connect with people. It could be because they are rats, who knows. The music is great but unlike other Pixar films it did not have a signature song either. I was just surprised they chose that over say the Incredibles which was huge over here and still one of the only Pixar films not to have an attraction, show, or area built based on it.

Crush's Coaster has an appallingly low hourly capacity and results in huge lines in DLP. They would need to build 3 of these to cope with the amount of people trying to get on at the Studios. It works in DLP because waiting in line for 2 hours almost makes the park a half day park then. This would result in loads of complaints in Orlando where people don't want to be waiting hours for a small basic coaster that wouldn't be as great in a park that has loads of great attractions. The only reason it's doing well in Paris is that it is in a park with nothing to do, no theming and nothing has been added for ages. So when you add a themed ride everyone wants to go on it because there is little else to do. This has made Disney think it's a great ride because so many people are going on it!

The new coaster is expected to be placed in the Soundstage One area right next to Toy Story Mania and construction could start within the next six months.
