GTY Allocated already......

Booked a gty last cruise & didnt get the stateroom number until about a month before we went.
Just been looking at our booking on DCL(like you do!!) & been very surprised to notice our room's been allocated already.....We are deck 7 which I'm very happy with even though it does mean we've not been given an 'upgrade' unlike last cruise!
Read some great reviews on our room though so we are pleased...Just hope they dont change it! :D

Great news......wow that is early !...but I don't think they would allocate any free upgrades until about a month out anyway, because its only then that they will have a proper picture of what grades have been sold (or rather over/ under sold), and which have not.
On that basis, I still think you will have at least the same chance of a free upgrade, as before.

Its unlikely they will change your room now, unless they upgrade you - but if this is a real concern, you could ring them, and ask them to put a note on your booking.

Out of interest ........were there only gtys left when you booked ...? or did you chose a gty for some reason ?

Booked a gty last time Cat 12 & got Cat 10 allocated which was great!
Booked gty this time really cos of that...just in case, but happy with what we've got, just so surprised its been done so early!
We were deck 1 last time so deck 7 will be much nicer i think, as we always say we were in the dungeons on deck 1 !
Like you say, this far out they cant have any idea of how bookings will go & may change it I suppose but i presume they'd tell us first to give us the option of staying put!
Plus we are on the 'Special' cruise which is due to call at Costa Maya & as you probably know, poor Costa Maya has been wiped out by 'Dean' , they anticipate 7-12 months to re build the port which is very sad...I guess ours may be ok for October but it will effect bookings i think.

My sister has been allocated room 2009 a gty 12 and we are booked for 16 Sept. She had hoped for an upgrade, but that's the way the cookie crumbles! Maybe next time ;)

You are just as like to get (or not) get an upgrade with a "gty", as if you booked a specific cabin number.

I have seen many polls and surveys on other boards and the main conclusion has always been.......there doesn't seem to be any logic in how free upgrades are given, nor anyway to better your chances of getting them...they are random.........or so it would seem on the outside of it.

I believe such was the demand for this cruise, you'd have been very lucky to have been able to choose a specific stateroom - so I was interested to know if this was an option.

Being on deck 7, rather than deck 1 or 2, would almost seem like an upgrade in its self, to most people !!!

Only paid the deposit which is why I'm so surprised they'v allocated us already!
