View Full Version : Just cancelled our Jan Cruise

I've been thinking a lot about whether to go ahead with our Jan Cruise but have just cancelled it.

I'm partially deaf, and although I liked the idea of being on a ship, I think it would just be too 'social' for me, and there is a lot of stuff I wouldn't be able to join in. There are also no captions in the cinema or on the shows in the theatre, and I actually emailed Disney about this, but nothing could be done apart from offering a script, which is very difficult to use when trying to watch a show - don't know why they don't have the captioning like they have in the parks.

Anyhow, I've cancelled it now so that's that, I think I've made the right decision, even though I feel a bit frustrated about it.

I can't seem to find the list of who's going when on a cruise, so whoever's in charge of this, could you take my date off, thanks.

Thats a shame...and a shame that you feel that they can't provide a good enough offering to cater for your requirements.... Hope you write and let them know the reasons so they can look into addressing them

Oh Mazzy what a shame ...but there's always another time if you change your mind....

I'd have a word with Scottishwee, I believe she has some hearing impairment too and has already done a cruise...or two !!...perhaps she can reassure you for next time ?

xx

Yes Deborah (scottishwee) has done 2 cruises, but she signs, and Disney provide a couple of sign language interpreters for them throughout the cruise, so that's a big help. I don't sign, just lipread, I'm fine at WDW with the captions, but the cruise isn't set up for this unfortunately.

Sorry to hear this Mazzy but from what we talked about in Florida I think you've made the right decision. Now you'll just have to plan something else to spend the cruise money on ;)

That's a shame Mazzy but I can understand why you've had to do this. Hope you get to enjoy spending the money another way!:)

Hi Mazzy

Oh I am sorry to hear that you had cancelled the Disney Cruise.

I have been twice and I find that it was brilliant and I thought that Disney Cruise had a marvellous things for us as my husband, my daughter and I are profoundly deaf. I can speak with my lipread but my husband cannot talk and he use his sign laugages. My daughter have a cochlear implant and she is speaking and hear much better than me. Two Interpreters from USA which are different signs from our Country and we find that they were so brilliant and very helpful to us. That makes us feel welcome. We loved it very much and want to go back again after twice on Disney Cruise  We think Disney Cruise was best holiday at Med we ever have.

I only saw one film while we were on 10 days med and we were so busy and there are another things like Pirate, show etc, spa.

Oh well it is your decision that you cancel it that you feel not right.

But if it was me, I would devasted it :nonono: .

I'm so sorry that you felt it necessary to take that decision. It must be a big disappointment for you but not nearly so bad as finding out too late. Have fun in planning whatever is next!

We have now booked WDW for just after Easter and will be using the cruise money to visit Busch Gardens (never been before) and Sea World where we hope to do the add-on where you get to touch a penguin. :D
