I, like Sue amd planning ahead and havent a clue how to fit all the restaurants in that I want to go to. So, we are there for 10 days and here is where we want to eat

Le Cellier 1TC
Yachtsman Steakhouse 2TC
Spoodles 1TC
Kona (breakfast and evening meal) 2TC
Coral Reef 1TC
Whispering Canyon (I could do without this but my two love it so much they were nearly tearing my arm off as I said I wanted to drop it:confused2) 1TC
Jiko or Artists Point (I need advice on this one folks) 2TC
1900 Park Fare (breakfast - this one has to stay as it is a favourite for us all) 1TC
Brown Derby (lunch - we will pay for this even though we are on the dining plan as we dont think it is worth 2 credits - like it all the same)

So already I have 11 TCs in my head when in reality I have only 10 to play with. I have 8 main meals meals inclluding the lunch I will pay for at B.Derby and need 2 more - if you know what I mean. If we add another 2 we will go with paying for 2 more cheap options (eg the Kona and 1900 breakfasts) and then use the dp to cover the final two meals. Are you still with me? :D
I know I dont want to eat at Ohana, Raglan Rd, CP (I like it but it is very busy) and Akershus. What we need is 2 TC restaurants but definitely the more grown up restaurants as that is what we all seem to want now. Folks I need help and inspiration. Any more suggestions?

Chefs is a great idea. We have done Teppanyaki but were a bit nonplussed with it in comparison to Kobe on I Drive, but Chefs is a great idea. Thanks.

Have you thought about seeing if you can upgrade to the new Delux DDP, that gives you each 3 TS credits a day

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works ;)

No Bruce - we are on the free dp. I think I am being ambitious as it is because we were absolutely stuffed last year on the free dp. I honestly dont know how anyone could get through that much food. Personally, I am glad that there are only 2 courses next year on a TS reservation.

Hi there fellow early planner Mags :wavey:

I know nearly ALL my ADR's already but may have to book them and change at least one if it does not appear on the 2008 DDP list (want to do Wolfgang Puck before Cirque - IS on 2007 list, but not yet on 2008 one) OR leave it and pay OOP and book another TS meal on the DDP :confused2 :confused2 :confused2

Anyway - YOUR choices look fab Mags :thumbs-up I LOVED Artist Point and don't like the look of the menu at Jiko so that's an easy one for me  We are doing three x2 TS meals but not planning AP as it's fallen casualty to Yachtsman, Calif Grill and Narcoossees - thought AP would be the one less preferred by my other party members. If it were just me going though, Artist Point would be top of my list.

I haven't eaten at Jiko but I did eat at Artist Point (thanks again to Sue :) ).

We had the best meal ever there Margaret, phenomenal! Everything from our servers to the general restaurant ambiance (very nice, but relaxed and not stuffy) and of course the food.

We always had CS credits left (even only being on the DP for 3 days) How about making your main meal out of CS's for the two days you are short. You could pick places like the CS place in Morocco or Pepper Market - places where you'd get a non burgers and fries meal

It might be an idea if you struggle to find 2 more TS places that you really want to try

Ok Sue and Clare. :D Ive had a look at the menu for Artist Point and we all like it. I think we are definitely putting Artist Point on our list. It looks like we are nearly sorted. The choices are becoming a bit more grown up as the children get older but we still have to do that one character meal.;) Thanks for all your help.
Jakki, we are thinking about just filling it out with CSs too. I cant help myself - so many nice restaurants!

Margaret - one little tip :) Ask for 'Pok' to be your waitress, she is a scream and a lovely person, she's the sort of waitress who will 'lighten' the mood, a real gem.

Glad it's not just us on the early planning ;) Even though I can't make our ADRs until February we have a mental list of where we want.

I'd suggest Boma Margaret but I know you don't like it there ;) Barry was much more impressed with our meal there this year so it's on our return list.

I agree with Jakki about using Counter service credits for some meals, we had over 20 credits left last week on our last day :omg: The check out lady couldn't believe we had so many left. We paid for 5 breakfasts OOP and then used all our TS credits (14) on 11 1/2 meals.

Last time we did end up using all of our CS credits. Michael has such an appetite. Now he isnt the chubby little boy he used to be but has stretched upwards into a skinny young man. I know he will be able to get through them again and not put on an ounce! I dont know how he does it but he has the platter for breakfast, a proper lunch and a full dinner. In fact what he is doing is using our CSs!
What we ended up with were the snack credits which became very handy when it came to bringing sweets home for friends.
Caron, Im sorry, I couldnt do Boma again. Michael always likes it because he just stuffs himself but neither Kathryn or I could stomach it.:(
Clare I will definitely ask for that waitress and Fiona, its good to get your input too.

Don't you just LOVE having this problem??!!! On our trip last Easter we didn't eat anywhere we'd eaten before - we were there for 3 weeks! With the exception of Market St Cafe. We could probably do that again this time if we tried hard enough! We ate at Jiko for the first time and had a fabulous meal there. The food was delicious but as Sue said not a menu I looked at and instantly fancied but am really glad we did it. It was a beautiful restaurant too.

I too am in planning mode - can't book any ADRs until Feb but we have a pretty good idea where we are using the TS credits. With 2 young children, most are very different from yours Margaret!! I just wish it would hurry up so I can book them before I change my mind (our backup list now stretches to 10 restaurants!!)

If you think you'll use all your CS's then the best thing to do is pay for the cheapest meals OOP (as you already said) but the Pepper Market is supposed to be nice and as you're staying at Coranado you might end up using one of them there.

For another one how about the new restaurant in Italy if it's open when you go?

I'm going to give the new Italian a go.

The new restaurant called the Wave at the Contemporary will be open too Mags. I think I read that it's to be a fusion cuisine type place.

We ate at both Jiko and Artist Point in July. We loved both, but Artist Point just pipped Jiko for us. My halibut was divine.

I see you've chosen AP - I think you'll like it there best, especially as you weren't keen on Boma.
There's a bit more space in the restaurant too.
We'll be going back to AP ourselves next time - can't wait!

Our list will probably be similar to yours Matt with plenty of character meals. ;)

What about the new restaurant that will be opening soon in AK Margaret, I think it's called 'Yak and Yin'.

I'd forgotten about the Wave - that's got to be worth a try and I'll look forward to your feedback on both of them :thumbs-up

You see guys, it was easy when KMT and Sue mentioned Chefs and Artists Point but now the other Sue has gone and thrown a spanner in the works by mentioning the new Italian and Wave. ;) As for you Caron - adding Yin and Yak makes the problem even worse!

Margaret - maybe we should all go for the deluxe dining plan! ;) At least that way I may be able to narrow my list down! It's nearly a year until we go and I know what I want to eat in some of the restaurants! If they change the menu I might have Su huff!!

Sue you know we are all as bad as eachother :D No wonder there's so much tweakage round these parts.

So how you getting on with the planning Mags? How about Narcoossees?
We loved it in Jan but cancelled our adrs in July because Paul didn't like the sound of the veggie dish.

gOOD PLANNERS AREN'T YOU ALL

It has to be done Colin. My friend who came back a few days ago said that lots of English people he met at his hotel bought their package with the free dining plan. They told him they were having to eat at CS restaurants. They couldnt get one single walk up at a TS restaurant :omg: and didnt know about booking ahead
Anyway, the planning is all part of the fun. Some of us here couldnt live without it.
