View Full Version : Alternatives to fast food.............
Hi, on my 3 previous visits to the states ( 1 to Florida), I struggled to find any places that fast food. Any recommendations for the odd vegetable/gravy here and there?
there's lots of alternatives to fast food - for cheaper placse look at Denny's, Perkins, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, all make a fresh meal to order and do normal 'non-fried' food. (they all also have burgers etc as well)

howdy and welcome to the dibb!
at the more expensive end there are many restuarants within disney that do proper meals, you may want to make reservations for these though
Ruby Tuesdays has a fantastic salad bar and great jacket potatoes. :thumbs-up
:wave:Hi, welcome to the Dibb!
As others have said alot of the buffet restaurants do vegetables
etc; also alot of the up-market restaurants do a healthier menu.

Try Sweet Tomatoes - a salad buffet and delicious. Also Friendlys, they do sit-down meals with veg and gravy, salads etc.
Olive Garden do italian food served with a big bowl of salad.

We would go to Perkins when we wanted veggies etc, they even offer rice as an alternative meal accompaniment instead of potato in any form!!
Uno's on the 192 is a nice place, they do loads of different foods, always nice, my dsis likes it there as they do mash and veg for the kids even if it's not on the menu she asks for it and it's never any trouble.

Try Toojays, it's at Dr Phillips, just off Sand Lake Road. Delicious deli type restaurant. Think it's a place thats used more by locals than tourists.

Quizno's, Firehouse Subs, Sobiks and Subway are all sandwich places (often found in strip malls and plazas with grocery stores) that offer made to order sandwiches. They have salad options as well.
Another great option would be Boston Market. Since we moved to Orlando this has become a favorite for my DH. They have chicken, ham, meatloaf, turkey for meats and then they have the mash potatoe option with several different veggies to choose from.
Boston Market (http://www.bostonmarket.com/home) is a good option for take away as well. They usually have good prices around the holiday for those that want a 'order ahead' option for Thanksgiving/Christmas meals.

There are plenty of places that you can eat with out the same old fast food. They can take a wee bit of looking for but when you can't face another chip or burger believe me they are there and they are worth the wait.:drinkbeer
