Longhorn is really nice - we had the most delicious Filet Mignon in there :tounge:
Its a couple of years since we went, but if I remember rightly prices were pretty reasonable, I don't think we paid more than $70 for 2 courses for 3 of us, including drinks.

Out of the steakhouses around town this is my favorite! They are very flexible with their menu so don't be afraid to ask if you can substitute an item if you see something else you prefer in a different combination.
For dinner I would plan for roughly $20 per person. A great place!!

If anyone ever gets up towards Altamonte Springs (or down towards Clearwater/Tampa), I recommend Sam Seltzers steakhouse. Very reasonable, that is our favorite place to go!

Agreed...a good option. For those that visit Altamonte Mall the restaurant is about 5 minutes east of the mall. It will be on your right.

Longhorns is really worth going to. A bit more pricey than some of the other steak restaurants but worth a visit.

You can sign up for coupons as well on their website. http://www.samseltzers.com/main.html
They have great everything (that I've had). It feels fancier, but it isn't at all. And the steaks, rolls, salad and atmosphere are wonderful. I first went in Tampa, and then Clearwater, then Altamonte when I moved up here a number of years ago.

We had a dreadful experience in here so much so we didn't pay for the 4 meals we had between us, infact they gave us the drinks free too. It was so busy the kitchen could not cope and neither could the staff or manager. Apparently they had a record number of complaints that night too....another one off the Xmas card list.

I would say to give them another chance. It sounds like the circumstances of the night caused the problem. Their food is really good and the service usually is as well. You might be pleasantly surprised.
I've got to say we've never yet had a bad dish, let alone a bad meal in the Longhorn on 192. It's been a firm favourite since our first trip in 1992 when they put in a booth so the children could fall asleep and we could have a meal in peace!
The Longhorn is a really nice place to eat, great food and the deserts are to die for. Try the Chocolate Stampede or the Goldrush. just heaven :D

FG, I have been to other locations that have been fine which is why we went to this one that particular night, I won't go back to that particuar location although might revisit elsewhere. As you say the food was not bad at all.
People might shout me down here but I spend a lot of time in Forida, and I think a lot of restaurants (but not all restaurants I ack that), that are full of tourists can sometimes be the worse places to eat. It's something we have picked up on over the years really. We eat like locals and travel to Lakeland or Lake Wales, Winter Haven, Winter Park etc where the whole dining experience is notably different. We do sometimes venture to the 192 or up into Orando to eat but it has to be somewhere worth it like TDB or restaurant row.

We had a great meal and great service at the Longhorn on 192, the prices were similar to the Outback. We would definitley go back.
my family and i go to longhorns several times every time we go as it is one of the best (there ribs are beautiful) and there prices are resonable, they always make you feel welcome and try to cater for any special needs as best they can

am I right in assuming that their "Texas Tonion" is pretty much the same idea as the "Bloomin' Onion" at the Outback?

Definitely prefer Longhorn over Outback. Prices tend to be comparable with each other but think the quality at Longhorn a notch higher.
Recently the Longhorn chain has been bought by Darden restaurants who own Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze etc.
