why all of these at the same time you would think that the parks would try and work to gether to stagger rehabs such as mgm
 or travel agents should make you aware of this fact that oct a bad month as its not one of the cheapest hols to have
If i'd of known i would of booked another time -  it makes you think about wether they just want your money:cry:
not going to tell the family just going to act dumb - [i am anyway so it wont be hard - but they have got you - as you pre pay your tickets so its not as if you can just walk up to the gate and change your mind - wont beable to sleep with worry now - all you need is for a few to break down and kirbooooom :mad2:

The trouble is that re-habs have to be carried out and scheduled at some time during the year - it's just a pity that it always tends to fall at about this time.

The US Low season starts around late August through to October, but then ramps up for Halloween and Christmas etc.

I suspect that many High Street TA's wouldn't have this information to hand anyway - so they wouldn't be able to advise.

ianian,
when are you going?

if you look at the rehabs and plan around them you should be ok.
Remember there is new stuff too for October..
Mission Space at Epcot
Figment in Epcot is again open
Epcots Food and Wine Festival
Mickey's PhilharMagic in Magic Kingdom
The New Wishes Fireworks show in Magic Kingdom
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

At Universal Jimmy Neutron and Shrek 4D are new

There is lots to see and do even with these rehabs, I wouldn't let it spoil your holiday.

If you want to eat in the parks or at popular off site restaurants then it is worth planning and making reservations/PS's, but I wouldn't do it for every night. Only you know your family and it may work out for you to plan all the evening meals... but if you do, be flexible and be prepared to change your arrangements.

as an aside
Rehabs always look bad when they come thick and fast for the period of your holiday

But as an example when you look at what is closed and what is open it isn't really that bad....

Closed at US
Jaws closed for the first couple of days of your holiday but then open
Earthquake closed (this should be open the first couple of days of your holiday)
WWWW show permanently closed

Open at US
Shrek 4D
Jimmy Neutron
Nickelodeon Studios
The Bone Yard
The Gory, Gruesome & Grotesque Horror Make-Up Show
Terminator 2 3-D Battle Across Time
Lucy A Tribute
Twister.. Ride it Out
The Blues Brothers
Beetlejuice's Rock n Roll Graveyard Revue
Men in Black - Alien Attack
Back to the Future - The Ride
Animal Planet Live
A Day In The Park With Barney
Curious George Goes To Town
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster
Fievel's Playland
E.T. Adventure

Also October is low crowds so you will be able to do the parks in less time, which gives you more time to see the other sites or go shopping :D
for example in summer we spent all day in Universal, when we go in October we usually leave by mid afternoon having seen everything we want to and been on most things several times.

as she just lost her hubby thought we'd try & do something a little special for her - she loves shows [all ready book for pirates din show] - fireworks - can you buy b/d cakes out there to take in to dinners or may be somewhere where they can sing happy b/d to her - God - i'd been son-in law No. one :wink [for a change]

Hey dont worry about Rehabs,i know its a bit irritating when it happens when you are visiting.
I have been to Orlando a number of times and something is always closed but it still does not stop me having a fantastic time.
There are so many things to do other than the obvious you will never run out of fun things to do.
I went to Orlando in 1989 when there was no Animal Kingdom,no Universal Studios and had a brilliant time.
Looking at rehab dates it looks like both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon lagoon will be open.
I am going in February and i am not in the slightest bit worried about rehabs, they happen and there is nothing you can do so why worry.
There is no point worrying about things you cant do,concentrate on all the things you can do.
You will have a great time no matter what.
