View Full Version : Impact of main pool closure at CBR
Does anyone have any idea of how much of an impact the closure of the main pool will have on CBR. Have had heart set on CBR for a while now but now finding out that the main pool is going to be closed when we are there last two weeks of August 2008 don't really know whether we want to go there or change to POR. The pool is supposed to be open mid September could it be open earlier?
Although we may not have spent much time around that pool my concern is the other quieter pools will be much busier. Also what sort of an effect will the shutting of that pool will have a look on the place?
At this point I don't really know what to do. :confused2

Wasn't aware that the main pool is due to be closed during that period but I don't think I would let it put me off if I were lucky enough to be going back at that time. We stayed in CBR (for the 2nd time) in last 2 weeks of Aug this year and love the resort.
We didn't really spend much time in the main pool (only 2 occasions I think). I take your point that the smaller local pools, which are normally quite quiet, may be busier but we wouldn't hesitate to go back there.
We have not stayed at any other resorts but have visited quite a few to eat or just to be nosey and I would still return to CBR rather than than others we have seen (although I do not have any experience of POR).
Have a great time wherever you stay!

we stayed there end of Aug last year and never used the main pool beacause it was so packed all the time. The quiet pools were great and never had more than a hand full of people in them,we stayed in Martinique. I suppose they will be busier this time though as the main one is closed but its a lovely resort to stay in.
We had this issue last year when staying at Movies. I worried about the pool closure so much I swapped to Pop, then didn't use the pool once!!
I'm at CB next year and I'm not changing the resort, will just use the smaller pools if at all!!

We found like whats already been said we didnt use the main pool this year exept from on an evening when we had our feet in while having a nice cold beer from the bar next to it.
If you wished to use this pool you would have to get there early and place you towels, also there is no shade where with the other pools that are scattered around the resort you have beds, chairs and also umbarellas for shade.
Also next to these smaller pools is the washing machines so we were washing while in the pool.

Mousse (or anybody else who can answer) ....
How did you find out about the main pool closure at CBR during August 2008 ? I am just wondering what other closures / rehabs are planned.

I saw it here on a thread can't link you to the thread as I've no idea how. But if you put pool closure at CBR into search tool you will find the post on 12th September. The poster mentioned the All Ears Newsletter - link to rehabs page below (fingers crossed it works!)

We did decide to stay put where we booked after all. It's the moderate DD and I really wanted to go to and after many swings and roundabouts we decided to stay put. The chances are we wouldn't have used the main pool anyway. I'll just be glad I'm there to be honest whatever.

Have you been to POR before? I only ask as I have been to CBR and POFQ and thought that POFQ was a much nicer resort! Just a personal opinion I know but worth considering :thumbs-up

We did think about it but it's just one of those things - you open the brochure and see pictures of hotels and the images stay with you. We will take a look at POR while we are there for future reference. :d:
