Hi Guys,
I am sorry if this is in the wrong section, but here goes, I am staying in a villa, I am going to order something to be delivered to us, as not available in the U.k , but what happens if we are out when they try to deliver, where do we go to get it, do they try to redeliver again?????
Thanks for you help

It's going to be impossible to say - just like here in the UK - it would depend on the delivery company, some couriers redeliver, some have nearby offices, some have offices that are frankly miles away.
Could you get it delivered to the Management office? At least there is always someone there during business hours.

I never thought of that, are most mangement companies cool with that ????
I am scared to ask the villa owner as I have asked that many questions think they are getting fed up of me....
What do you reckon???
thanks

I think you need to ask your villa owner - I am sure they will know better than anyone else.

You should definately speak to the villa owner. US Postal Services as a rule do not deliver to villas that are rented out and the likes of UPS and Fedex will often leave items on the doorstep.

It really is a mixed bag. The villa owner might have mail arrangements so if it is a standard delivery it might not be taken to your actual villa.
UPS sometimes will leave the parcel on the door step. If they don't they will leave a sticker on the door and you can tick the box that you want (redeliver and leave at the door).
Having said that it can also depend on what the company you are ordering instructs them on their end. Some tick the box saying a signature is required.
PM me if I can be of local assistance.

You might find that if you are ordering on line there may well be a special section for delivery instructions ...or perhaps you could even fit it in as part of the address info : eg. Villa 545 (leave on step), xxx avenue, etc.
:)
As a villa owner, I would like to think it is only courtesy to ask the owner of the home. I am sure if someone stayed in your house you wouldn't want them ordering things to your home without your knowledge.
My preference would be for my clients to have it delivered to the management company. Its easy, no gate codes have to be given out, and no-one is going to be snooping around the house when you may not be in. Besides who wants to spend a day of holiday stuck in waiting for a delivery.
Just remember though that some American stores like Sears do not take UK credit cards for purchases on their websites, as they cannot verify the card address.

No worries, I am trying to get in touch with the villa owner. If not I will get my BIL to send it to me at home, (its my birthday while we are there)

ds got 2 deliveries for car stuff when we were there in april, ups left the parcel at the condo door whilst we were out, but a kind gent saw it lying there and took it in and delivered to us when we came home (nice gesture) 2nd parcel was left in the bin beside our front door (WINDSOR HILLS) but we were lucky i admit to actually get then in one piece. shirley
