Wii and DS lites?

I gather I can't buy a wii thing in America cos they don't work here but what about a DS lite(?) as you can tell I don't have a clue what I am talking about but my daughter wants one/ both of these and as she is not coming with us I thought rather than bring her back loads of stuff that will sit in her cupboard till she get fed up and chucks it away I might get one of these instead.
I also want a new camcorder what do you think should I get that over there? any advise very welcome

You can buy a DS Lite and games over there that will work perfectly back here. All you'll need to do is buy a UK charger (about £6) when you come back. It's not worth buying a Wii or Wii games - you're better off buying them in the UK.

We bought several DS lite games whilst over there last time. We already had the console.
Not sure about the camcorder, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you out.

ds lite will be fine, the camcorder may be a problem. You will find that it will record in nstc format and not the pal system we use. although most modern tv's can convert the signal nowadays.
