Hi there i am considering a wee trip in jan08 .... which London airports fly to new york and any ideas on cheap flights and hotels (nice hotel) and how many days would you recommended doing ... we will be flying to London from Inverness so will need to factor in a over night stay in London most likely

Thanks Laur

You can ly into newark or jfk depending on the cheapest.
I've just done a quick check on expedia.. If you do a flight to Newark from Inverness £289 inc taxes, this way you want have to stay in london overnight {extra cost}. Stay a Saturnight as it works out cheaper

Take a look at Travelocity or Orbitz web sites...I'v been getting some reasonable quotes for Jan '08 from them, also Expedia too!
I'm finding the prices change almost daily though, so once you find a price you like..BOOK IT!!(I'm still working on babysitters for my kids, so cant book yet!!)

Just as an addition to the information offered above, from October 26th (I think) American Airlines start flights from Stansted to NY.

I've seen flights for £250 return on their website on this route.

I don't know if this helps the original poster at all but it might be of use to others like myself. I live in Norwich, and would much rather fly from Stansted than Gatwick or Heathrow to the USA.

Seems to work out cheaper as a 'package' to NYC, rather than booking flights & Accommodation seperately I'm finding!!
Unlike florida, which is usually cheaper DIY!!

We are flying Aberdeen to New York with BA. Check their website. I just put in a couple of dates for January and it's coming in under £300 from Inverness and you will not require to stay overnight in London.

My DB and SIL are just back from the Hilton Millenium Hotel ( which overlooked Ground Zero) and they loved it. Flew with BA Glasgow/London/NY though...don't know price! They had 5 nights/6 days and thought it was a good length of time to see lots.
Let us know how you get on and if you book to fly from Scotland. Quite fancy a wee jaunt myself!
Happy Booking!

How did you find the Ameritania Hotel?
Seen it on a web site, a good value deal to stay there but when i read reveiws they were'nt too good!!
Its very hard to choose a good 'mid budget' hotel in NYC!!
