I know I'v seen this hotel mentioned, but cant remember where!
Can anyone give me an honest 'review' of this hotel?
Found a deal but just need reassurance! ;)
Thanks xx

Sally,
I Stayed In This Hotel In Dec 05 And Loved It, Since Then My Mum Has Been Back 3 Times And Is Due To Spend New Years Eve There This Year.

Its Got A Fantastic Location As Im Sure You Are Aware. We Emailed The Hotel Before And Asked For A High Floor And Had A Room With A View Of Times Square. See Pics Of Room View In The Snow. Our Room Had A Huge Double Bed And Was Perfect In Size, Had Room For A Setee And Coffee Table In There With Us And Room To Spare.

There Is A Shop Downstairs For Little Nics And Naks And A The Staff Are So Friendly, They Even Gave My Daughter Then 5, A Bag Full Of Free Goodies When All I Bought Was A Couple Of Pens For Work Mates. It Also Has A Fantastic Cafe Downstairs Well Worth A Try.

The Room Wasnt Ready When We Got There, Which Was Early Anyway And We Just Waited In The Lobby Till They Called Us. Its An Old Fashioned Hotel With An Old Fashoined Lift But Has Bags Of Charm And Character.

On The Return To The Airport Ask The Porter If He Can Arrange A Limo We Got One Through Ours For Less Than The Taxi Cost Us From The Airport And Itincludes A Tip Too !!!

I Too Had Read The Reviews On Trip Advisor But If You Look Carefully All The Brits Give It A Good Review. If You Need A Comfy Base Then Its Great If You Want 5 Star Luxury Then Don't Stay Here. But I Couldn't Imagine Going Back To Anywhere Else!!! And Thats Me Being Honnest.

Pm Me With Your Email Address If You Want Anymore Pics As They Are To Big To Fit On Here.

Good Luck
Gemma X

Sounds good - it is on my short list, but at the moment I am favouring the New Yorker due to being cheaper.

Hi :wavey:

We stayed at the Wellington in December 2005. The hotel is in a fabulous location with times square, central park etc. all on your doorstep. There is a cafe attached to the hotel where you can get breakfast and snacks, they do a mean hot chocolate! ;)

The hotel itself is clean but is not luxurious. I would however stay here again purely because of the location, and the good deals you seem to get on this hotel. Go for it :thumbs-up

My short list keeps changing!LOL!!
Its so much easier deciding on Florida accommodation than NYC!!

Think I'l go with The Wellington but tell me Jean, whats on your list??
When are you going?
Thanks!

Whenever somebody at work comes in and says they have been looking for New York at travel agents - they almost always say the same hotels have been suggested.
The Wellington, along with Park Central, The Roosevelt, Hotel Pennsylvania, Milford Plaza is a hardy perennial.
Nothing particularly wrong with it as long as it is cheap - but not one of the best " value budget " choices. It is a good location, especially for Carnegie Hall and Carnegie Deli - plus there is an excellent Christmas shop outside
Typically for same or less money you could stay somewhere like The Belvedere, Hotel Metro, or even a good deal at a larger hotel like a Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott or Embassy Suites.
Its OK.

Ok..So now i'm confused!! :spin:
Anyway....The Wellington is coming out at £680 for the 2 of us, from Gatwick to Newark, BA for 3 nights, 5th - 8th Jan '08!
Now, how cold is it going to be??Not that it matters really as we're not going to New York for a sunny holiday, but will it be SO cold it will be unbearable? :omg:
This is proving to be a hard decision to make, I'm doing it as a surprise birthday treat for DH. His actual birthday is Dec 2nd but its SO expensive to do NYC in December so i thought i'd book for a month later as it really makes no difference to us!
Do I or dont I time I think!! ;)

The week we were there - late in January - it was bitterly cold - worst day was -11 C yes minus 11 and that was daytime max!!!

But we were told that 2 weeks before that it was unseasonably warm! So you have to be lucky really - it's a changeable time of year, can be freezing can be ok.

We still had a great time but I would love to see it in spring!

I also stayed at the Wellington and would definitely stay there again - it was fine - rooms were kinda tiny but then rooms in Sydney hotels can be small. It was clean, comfy and convenient! :thumbs-up

Thanks for that info Kazzaqld!
I'm trying to decide what to do...DH is away tonight on business, hence why I'v spent today secretly planning!LOL! ;)

Spring is probably a lovely time to visit, but there's just something about snow & New York that appeals to me..I hate the cold normally, although here in Bournemouth we rarely see snow apart from a flurry!!

I'll let you know what i decide, once I have made up my mind that is..I'm the most indecisive person I know!! :spin:
