Has anybody been to the Luxor recently?

I have 2 questions.

1. Is the revamp pwork that's going on bad? :spin:

2. Are there safes in the rooms?

Cheers.

Oh! Also - Grand Canyon. Best Trip?

We stayed in the Luxor last August and the rooms did not have safes then. Sorry don't know about the other questions.

There are no safes in the room, the safes are downstairs at the far end of reception, you ask to be buzzed in to the room where they are and then they hand over your box.

I was there in Jan and the refurbs were having little or no impact then.

I preferred the towers anyway, bigger rooms.

We were in the Luxor last week having a little gamble ($3 converted to $75 in 5 mins!!) and in the casino and public areas themselves, not a lot had changed since our visit in 2002.

The only major thing we noticed was the Absolut advert which has been put up on the outside of the Pyramid.

I must admit we didn't venture into the accommodation area or pool area but I think you will be fine.

I was very pleased we went in the Luxor, in 2002 we gambled every night in there and didn't win anything. I thought the $75 win was a little bit of sweet revenge for that........

Oh and regarding the tower vs pyramid argument, yes the tower rooms are bigger but it is a fact of life that everybody one day has to experience the inclinators to get to the pyramid rooms.

You can stay in a tower room in any Vegas hotel, you can't stay in a pyramid!! Just a thought.

We stayed at the Luxor in Feb & really enjoyed it. When we were there the building work was in the foyer all bahind huge boards & it never bothered us.

As said safe deposit was downstairs & easy to use.

We stayed in the Pyramid could stay in a tower anywhere! Room was fine huge shower not bath. No shower gell either! but soap, shampoo condit etc.

Great pool which was open even in Feb.

if you like Burgers you must try the Burger Bar (I think that's what it's called) its with the shops that join the Luxor to the Mandalay Bay. Not fast food but a bar & restaurant. The sweet potaoe fries are wonderful.

We went to the Grand Canyon (the main reason for our trip) with Sundance helicopters. I can recommend them. We did the sunset trip which involved pick up from hotel in Limo, flight to canyon, land in canyon & small picnic. Then fly back to Vegas as the sun is setting. Once in vegas we flew down the Strip which was all lit up. Well worth it.

Mum and Dad got back from Las Vegas and L.A on Wednesday, they stayed at the Luxor hotel and didn't see any revamp work going on, and like the other people have said there is no safes in the room. They were in the pyramid bit 5 floors up facing the Sphinx. They loved the hotel and had a great holiday.

We stayed here and had a pyramid room, which is fine if you don't plan to sleep!!
The noise in the room was very loud day and night, just below our room there was a really noisy "jackpot machine", it didn't bother us too much as we never really slept for 4 nights, we needed another holiday when we got back.
If however, you enjoy your sleep or you're going with children I'd definately opt for the tower rooms.

Was that a low floor? We stayed on eleven (I think) and can't recall any noise from the casino floor.
