Anyone have any ideas on where are the best places to eat in New York. I have realised there is an Olive Garden in Times Square that we will have to fit in our itinerary as it is the best Italian restaurant we've been to any other suggestions would be most appreciated.

Try Frankie & Johnnies just off times square. Great food and loads of history. We also ate at Peter Luger's in Brooklyn, best steak we have had for a long time.

Hi :wavey:
We ate at the hard rock cafe on Times Square and had a lovely meal there. It is huge inside with loads to look at. :)
There is also Carnaigies (think that's how you spell it), just up from Times Square (heading towards central park). It is a very famous restaurant, often with queues down the street. They do sandwiches almost as big as your head!!! :spin: We never got to eat there though as the queues were always so big! :(

Ellen's Stardust Diner on Times Square - we really enjoyed the theming and singing and dancing :)
Agree with Grand Central Station, we went once and the children begged us to go again!
For something a bit more opulent for lunch - but we thought very reasonably priced - try the counter service in Trump Tower.

Hi
Another vote for Ellens here
Also if you have kids we went to Mars 2112. We loved it here the theming and food is great. You go into the restaurant and have to get transported to Mars for your meal ( you have to pay $2 ea i think it is for the ride, only downside) but then you arrive and theres aliens walking about etc.
Our boys were 16 and 14 and enjoyed it loads.

We also tried Planet Hollywood in Times Square and it too was really good. We were wary after the Orlando experience a couple of times as we didnt enjoy that one but NY's is ace.
Have a great time
xx
PS. There is something called open table (sure thats the name) and they can tell you what restaurant has availability when and if you like you can make a reservation before you go, they will email confirmation to you. You dont need to give CC details or that, they only ask you cancel in plenty of time.
As we were there over New Year, we wanted a nice restaurant for New Years Day and use this to get a booking.
Found the site, heres the link. They also do other cities not just NY

We ate at TGI Fridays in Times Square, it was ok but nothing to write home about. The best place we went to eat was a small diner up by our hotel on 104th & Broadway. I can't remember the name but I'm sure the neon window sign was a Flamingo!

Try http://www.maxbrenner.com/home.aspx . This is a restaurant totally based on chocolate. DD and her partner ate here on their trip in September and said it was wonderful (they do do some savoury stuff too!)
