Sudden Driver Problem ??

Today when I started up my pc it said Windows had recovered from a fatal error ? The error report said that the driver on the graphics card was faulty :confused2

Have tried to install an update which I thought had worked but it has flashed up a message since.

My driver is: ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series.

HELP !! :(

go to the ati site and download a new one from there, very east to find it, you should always check for new drives for your hardware every now and then. drivers are the most common causes of BSoD

Am in the process of going through it now. Tried to download the update but it said my video driver was not up to date so just looking for that. Thought that these came through automatically.

Sorry to be a techno numpty but here goes.

The update for my driver is:
Catalyst 6.11 Display Driver for WindowsXP Home Edition.

When I first ran this it told me that I had to have .NET Framework 2.0 installed which I have now done and restarted my computer.

Now when I try to install the driver it says:

INF error
Video Driver not found.

When I click OK it says:

Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

I feel like I am getting in a bit deep for my knowledge and need a bit more help sorry.

Just wanted to update this incase anyone did a search later on. My pc was locking when it went to screensaver .. then it kept coming up with driver errors. It then wouldn't go back to the desktop when I moved the mouse. Eventually it started taking ages to boot up .. the last day was nearlly 2 hours !! My monitor was shimmering from black to grey. Went through everything systematically and realised it must be the monitor. Went out and bought a new monitor and everything is completely back to normal. My old monitor was behaving a bit like an old tv when the tube was going - taking ages to warm up .. am showing my age now :blush:
