I loved it last time we went (2005). But was quite disappointed this time, went there last week and week before and it was like a cattle market. The breakfast buffet was ok, but the evening buffet was crazy. I know you pay for what you get, but we were told to find our own seats (there weren't any), then there was hardly any food for veggies. I had to wait 10 minutes for a pizza. And it was filthy, food all over the floor.

I think Sizzlers gets our vote now :d:

We were not too impressed either, still good value if you are on a budget, but I would prefer quality than quantity.

We found the breakfasts good & the dinners crowded & food quality poor.

having been told that the golden coral past medieval times and walmart on 192 had been revamped we went there, it was by far the better one. lbv and 192 west were crowded, picked over and grubby, this one was just far enough out t stop getting too busy and it was a whole $ cheaper each

Unfortunately the clientele of a restaurant on any particular night can really change your experience. We had one really lovely meal at Golden Corral, but another night there were some coach parties in and it was crowded and messy from the minute we walked in - we decided to go elsewhere.

Which restaurant did you go to?
I love Golden Corral.
Where ever we went at dinner time was busy, thats why people book their ADR's 180days before. I went for a pizza at the weekend and that took 40 mins even after waiting half an hour for a table, i'd even called before hand to book a table.

for less than £9 each?

Addmitedly the veggie choice is limited (have you tried green tomatoes?) and they do turn the table around very quickly, but if its not clean ask the server (nicely) to do a better job.

Im sorry for ranting on a bit, but ive tried lots of different eateries and Golden Corral always seems to provide more ' than you pay for '

Have a good one...

It's not the choice or the price that's important to me but the quality of food and it was poor quality, we tried it twice and both times were disappointed.

We've seen the quality and cleanliness at Golden Corral go steadily downhill. Last time we were there it seemed as if tables and buffet areas were not getting cleared at all and the place was full of teenage coach parties whose behaviour was less than polite. My DD calls it 'the trough'.

now I'm totally torn in two - should we or shouldn't we try it for the first time? :confused2

You should give it a go, it's not expensive and it might have improved, especially if it's quieter. if you dont like it, dont go again. My friend loves it there.

We usually go early 5 or 6pm and its fine but much later than that and it's chaotic

We had planned to go here the first night, as we feel that we may be a little tired from the journey.

We are staying at the Springhill Suites and the Golden Corral is very close apparently (I know Bahama Breeze is also close but don't want to go here the first night, especially if you have to wait for ages)

Not so sure now whether to go to the Golden Corral after reading the above :confused2

ive always enjoyed the golden corral, its cheap and the food is lovely, and has everything you need if you are travelling in a big party.

Just try it. We all have different ideas of what we want in a restaurant. I like the fact that there is so much choice. I have two fussy eaters (3 if you count DH) so we are all catered for. Yes it isn't the nicest looking place to eat but you pay for what you get.

We visited the Golden Corral on our first trip to Florida and hated it!! Food piled high on the tables, no one in a hurry to clear it up, food over the floor. It truely was grim!! Never been back and never will. Another vote for quality not quantity here.

We've always loved it. We go early evening to the one on the 192. Our daughter is a veggie and she has plenty of choice.
I'd give it a go and decide for yourself.

we went to the golden corral last year on the 192 just after world drive and just before you hit highway 27, and it was great, not too busy, quite clean, selection and quality was great, we went to the one just off i4 before you hit i drive and this was a nightmare, it was very busy, staff rude, not very clean and the quality was poor

We used the 192 GC and LBV. But saw one on the Kirkman Road. Went there on our last night at 7.00ish and it was fairly empty. It was very clean and seemed quite new. We will try it again next time.

I love walmart

We always go to the one in Kissimmee. I've never had a bad experience there, even had christmas day there (though not out of choice!). I think its ideal for small or fussy children and big groups as there really is something for everyone.
To anyone who's umming and aahing about it just try it, its cheap enough.

We always go there at least once to the one on the 192 west - always found the food plentiful, edible and full of choice - it's quick, cheap and cheerful and have always found the staff helpful and courtesy. I always think that you can't please everyone all of the time and we are not all the same it would be a dull world if we were :wavey: :wavey:

GC has always been our first choice for breakfast over the years, (we only eat breakfast at the buffet's) but I have to admit that on our last trip in August, it was a bit of a let down and we did prefer the Ponderosa!(we always use the gc and ponderosa on the 192 west) We also tried Sizzler's on the 192 west, and that was very dissapointing, there was the most awfull smell in there, and when we complained we were told that it was the air con????? it was soooo foul that we left without breakfast and went to the Ponderosa!!!!(it may be just that resturant, but we'll never enter another sizzler's :nonono:)

I have to confess that I cant enjoy food off a plastic plate. Until you try it you wnt know for yourselves, and its so cheap its got to be worth a go.

We use plastic plates in our caravan so we are used to eating off them. I think it is a good value place to eat espcially with kids who can eat and try everything.

It was the golden corral on international drive. Like i say, i was more than impressed last time but never again. But i suppose if you got there earlier than 6.30pm it would be better.

What a strange world, we went to the restaurants on the 192 you went to for Breakfast Buffets in July/August this year and hated Ponderosa and loved the Golden Corral and Sizzlers.
If we were all the same I suppose one restaurant would be packed and the others empty?

PS Never go to Shoneys that was worse than Ponderosa.

we have allways loved gc but in 2006 we had lots of problems with it .we allways use the 1 on the 192 opposite k w kools but every time we went it was untidy we had to ask for more plates 3 morning there was no1 cooking eggs at nite we had to wait for steaks, ice cream machine was empty .one of the days we was out early and called in a gc just near to plant city what a difference it wasnt a tourist 1 so it was great ,clean, fresh well cooked food , staff were great ,so i think its the tousist 1s that are giving the rest a bad name .but on the other hand last week i was on the road and called at a cafe near ripon for a breakfast .and it cost me £4.95 for a english breakfast i got 1 rasher,1 sausage ,1 egg, beans, toms, 2 mushrooms,1 slice of bread and butter 1 small cup of tea, i asked for 2 rounds of toast and a glass or orange juice my bill came to £7.55 ,£1.20 for toast and £1.40 for juice .so i know where i would rather eat breakie
