On the 23rd of october there is a shuttle launch me and my family want to see, the only problem is, we don't know where to see it from! Does any fellow dibbers have any tips or good viewpoints for the launch? we was looking at coco beach, but i would love to hear you're suggestions.
thanks :wavey:
I think the best place is titusville, but I'm sure you will get other replies.
And guess what date my birthday is - what a treat!

this was a night launch from Titusville. It is at Pauls smoke house where we tend to have a meal as they will let you leave your table to view the launch and then come back in for deserts or whatever :)
I have been lucky enough to see two launches from here

hope this gives you an idea.. from what I can see Coco beach is farther south but i guess it depends which launchpad they are using.

Anywhere along the coastal highway will give you a good view, Titusville is good as there are plenty of places to park with restaurants etc. You can see the launches quite clearly from Orlando too, just not quite so close.
Those are lovely pics Shelly.

I always go to Titusville to watch it or take others over to watch it. I'll try to find another thread where I listed a lot of the viewing options. None of them would be a disappointment. You will see it at Cocoa but Titusville would be a closer view.
On most launches I go outside of my home and watch it from there....and that is in Orlando. *spoiled*

Take a look at this thread (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=160641&highlight=shuttle) for the information I posted on another thread. There are maps and viewing options noted.

thats great thanks :) Sounds a great experience to me, i hope they don't delay it too much! do the local news channels talk about delays to the shuttle?

Yes, all of the local stations have up to the minute information on the shuttle. WESH channel 2 (channel 4 on cable) has a NASA specialist and they are a good source. Channel 6 (channel 5 on cable), Channel 9 (channel 7 on cable), Channel 35 (channel 3 on cable) and Channel 13 will all have live feed.
If you have digital cable at your villa take a look at the NASA channel. It has some really great stuff when the launch is about to happen (and during the week they are in space).
