Which is the best place to go for an airboat ride with the best chance to see alligators? There will be 7 of us - 5 adults and 2 children.

Thanks

Boggy Creek airboat rides www.bcairboats.com was great last time. :cool2: We might try Midway www.airboatridesatmidway.com this time. Anyone else been on this one?

We did Boggy Creek and really enjoyed it, being a first go on an airboat. But as a chance to see some wildlife it was disappointing. The guy pointed out what he said was a bald eagle- but it was too far away to confirm... We did also see a baby alligator, although saw a better one in a neighourhood pond when visiting my wife's US cousins in Tampa! I guess its not a zoo so probably can't expect animals to turn up on demand, but it did make us wonder whether there might be better vantage points?? Maybe time of day is important?

Airboats @ Midway (http://www.airboatridesatmidway.com/) for us. OK, it's a bit further out but it's a more authentic ride than Boggy Creek.

The boats are good, the captain(s) superb and we saw about 10 'gators in August :)

I have just had a look at Airboats at Midway. That looks great. Thanks for that link and for all replies.

Has anyone been on one of those and felt sea sick?!

We have done Boggy Creek and thought it was great, it was my birthday so I got to sit upfront next to the captain! although on any boat, one person can do this, so if you do plan on this and want to sit up front, go speak with the captain and ask!

We saw two gators on our trip.

I wouldnt recommend the 'safari' on the HUGE bus LOL, it was a total waste of money, never been a safari! it was like a run (very bumpy run at that) through some fields and trees!

We did Boggy Creek this year and loved it!

We were more excited by the ride than seen a gator - we saw a little one but I felt sorry for it, the way we were trying to get closer and it trying to hide.

The hotter the day though, the less chance you have of seeing a gator as they stay deeper in the water where it is cooler.

We love doing an airboat ride, it`s a really exhilarating experience. We always go to the East Lake Fish Camp location at Boggy Creek. :-)

Another vote for Boggy Creek. We did this last year and had a great time.

The night ride at BC for a good chance of seeing gators

Loved the Boggy Creek Ride this year.
Next year we're hoping to go to Miami for a night then go onto the actual Everglades, on a similar ride.
Anyone got any recommendations if we go down there?

We did the boggy creek ride but did not see much wildlife, although we did see some baby alligators. How about doing the airboat ride and consider Gatorland to see the alligators up close.

We have been to Boggy Creak a few times, but if you get the chance visit Everglades City and take the airboat ride there, you will defiantly see alligators. Unfortunately it's a bit of a drive from Orlando, but if you are visiting anywhere in south Florida, it's well worth it.

Have to say just looking at the photos on the Gatorland website put me off ever going there. Talk about demeaning the gators - just awful IMHO. :(

We did the BC airboats last week - only saw a few 'gators - but I think we went too late and they were all hiding in the water.

We did go to Gatorland - there were loads there - didn't like the photo taking though - no way would i let my toddler within 2 foot of 6 gators at feeding time.
